Date a soulmate from Healdsburg, United States. I haven't had much of a chance to write about myself, but here goes...
My job brought me to the wine country 32 years ago. I have been here ever since and I don’t plan to leave anytime soon. I was raised in the Central Valley of California, but was born in Hawaii, also one of my favorite places to vacation. I’ve survived a failed marriage, but would not change it if it meant altering the product of that marriage, 4 very important people in my life; 3 daughters and 1 son, all are young adults now and “out of the nest. “ They have a multiculture heritage, Japanese, Chinese, Basque, and Castilian. If you haven’t already guessed, family is very important to me and is an “absolute must” in the writing of our next chapter.
I am nearing a major cross-road in my life. One turn takes me into semi-retirement and with that more time to play or the other, continue on with my work. I’ve been in the wine business for almost 40 years, so that habit may be difficult to break. I was fortunate to only move once during all that time. It was important to raise the kids in a community where long term friendships could develop.
For fun I’ve enjoyed scuba diving and “free diving for abalone” along the North Coast, golf (or at least that’s what I call it, my friends may have other names, bike riding (I’ve actually dusted off the road bike, purchased new gear..the seat had to be replaced. Otherwise I would have found excuses not to continue. The intent is to keep a physical conditioning routine other than the exercise machine in the garage..although that will continue to be used when raining)
I enjoy movies on tv or the “big screen”, “chick flicks”, comedies, action, suspense…pretty much a wide variety. My friends say my music is "eclectic", but it does lean more to the "oldies" and country and a hint of alternative rock (whatever that means). I would also like to share a table at any of the favorite spots in the area. For me, dining out must be shared with a “special someone”. It’s a great time to reflect on the past and prepare for the future.
Santa Rosa and San Francisco are great venues for concerts, plays, site-seeing. Are you ready?
My travels have been limited, Australia, Italy, Alaska, and of course Hawaii. Recently I had the opportunity to visit Spain for the first time with my daughters. I do want to explore new places. Hope the person in my life will too.
For fun:
I do enjoy traveling up and down California. There are many wonderful places to visit and it’s close to home. Week-ends on the coast, (Bodega Bay, Carmel, Mendocino) with a room overlooking the ocean, hopefully with a private hot tub. Weekend excursions, and when the weather obliges, the top goes down to feel the open air.
Taking the dogs to Dillon Beach to run in the sand and swim in the ocean. Lucy and Gordy are gone, but I do hope to "rescue" another Weim in the near future.
I recently bought a camera that I hope to develop into a new hobby.
My job
My first job out of college was in a winery and I have been involved with wines ever since. It will continue to be part of my future.

I must admit that I haven’t read many books in recent times. There are many on my bookshelf waiting for the pages to be turned.

Meet someone special from Healdsburg, United States. IMatch.com is a whole new world for me and I am not quite sure how to navigate it – but it sounds like an interesting place to meet someone (perhaps just a friend or maybe more) with similar interests. I was married for 41 years to a great woman who passed away with ovarian cancer. I really enjoyed sharing my life with someone – and miss that now. Even the simple things in life are enjoyable when done together.
I am a lucky guy – wake up each morning – with a view of lush vineyards in a beautiful setting. It’s quiet where I live and I enjoy the peace and tranquility of it. I owned a business for many years – and now really like the slower pace of my recent retirement. My business kept me outdoors most of the time – and I still enjoy it. I am a big open space kind of guy – really enjoy fishing (British Columbia) is a favorite). I often get away to a cabin in Northern California – for hunting, hiking, relaxing and being far away from it all.
Though the outdoors is my kind of place, I am easy to dress up and enjoy lots of different things. I am at home in a big city – San Francisco is a favorite. I do enjoy seeing plays, going out to dinner and have been known to spend some time in a museum.
I have always enjoyed traveling – especially on the small cruise ships. Alaska and ports in the Caribbean have been great trips. One of the items on my “to-do” list is to visit all 52 states – I have six more to go. Road trips can be great – staying at B and B’s and poking around new places.
I have two grown sons – who are well established in their own lives. Two young granddaughters keep me laughing. Friends are important to me and I have a nice circle of supportive friends that I enjoy spending time with.
I have a big loud laugh and use it often. I like to think I have a good sense of humor. It’s on the dry and droll side – but it’s a useful tool to have in life. I pride myself on being an honest guy – not a trait that is universally prized – but I find it is the only way to go. With me – what you see is truly what you get.
So what am I looking for? I would like to meet a really great woman – close to my age and close to my home. It would be terrific to spend time together – share a cup of coffee, go out to dinner, see a movie or maybe take a walk. I would like to talk, to laugh, to share experiences and adventures with a genuinely nice, interesting and intelligent woman. It would be the icing on the cake if she liked to fish (or was curious to learn how), liked the outdoors and had similar interests – however I am up for learning for a few new things as well. I am willing to take it slow and see how things unfold. I am a nice guy and am looking forward to meeting a nice woman. Are you interested?
