i would describe myself as kind, fun-loving, supportive of and interested in other people, intellectual, unpretentious, genuine. Not all the time, of course, but I think that those who know me would probably agree with these labels.
I'm a clinical psychologist and I'm passionate about finding ways to help people live better lives. I lead an education and research center that focuses on prevention and care for post-traumatic stress disorder. I work very hard, because i get to do cool things all day, and they're things that can make a difference. I get to think about how to design psychological interventions, and how to improve the way health care systems operate. Anybody interested in me should know that my work if very important to me.
But play is very important to me too. i laugh a lot. I sing every day (but in the car by myself). I'm up for most activities and like to explore.
I love ideas and intellectual stimulation. I'm interested in many things, and the ability to talk and share ideas about lots of stuff will be important in any relationship i start. As with physical connection, chemistry in talking and personality seems important.
I like to think i have a big range in interests: hard rock to classical to folk singing, international cuisine to dive diners, getting crazy with friends to engaging in intellectual conversation, classic films to romantic comedies to sci fi to mysteries to adventure blockbusters, being appropriate to (moderately) outrageous. I read widely, but less than i would like due to time. I have a strong aesthetic sense, about art, architecture, poetry, music; i know what i like, but my tastes are eclectic. I love walking in nature, in forests, mountains, marshlands, by the ocean, but I like big cities too.
I especially want to travel more, to lots of places, near and far. I aspire to spend time in Europe and would eventually like to live there part time, i think. I lived in London from 1979-1987, and grew up with an English mother and a Czech father. I also love to walk and run on the beach, to bodysurf, beach comb, snorkel, drink a margarita or beer and watch the sunset. I grew up hanging out in Hermosa and Torrance beaches, so want to do beachy things more. I can never get enough of waves and sand.
I'm not sure exactly who i'm looking for. I will try to be open to possibilities. I want to make some new friends, try out some new activities, and have some fun. In a partner, i would hope for some mutual interests, mutual attraction, ability to connect, mutual stimulation, and mutual liking. Kindness, enthusiasm, intellect, good stress management all welcome qualities. But all of us have our sets of limitations and faults.

Meet someone special from California, United States. Now that my children have finished school, and my business is established, I am ready for a new relationship. I have a wide range of interests. I like to play and watch sports. I have played guitar since 6th grade, now mostly acoustic. I am adventurous and ready to travel.
