I grew up in Arkansas, but have also lived in North Carolina (grad school), Texas (work), Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, Greece, and Italy (all studies abroad). I love to travel and appreciate a good adventure. I have only been in San Diego for about two months, but it is quickly taking a seat as one of my favorite cities across the globe. My personal and professional lives are pretty contradictory. In my work life, I am an initiative-taking, strong-willed woman driven to pursue a successful career in a male-dominated discipline. In my personal life, however, my southern background and belief in chivalry at its finest comes to play. I do not expect nor desire a fairytale, but I do find interest in a guy who respects a woman, treats her like a lady, and understands that opening a door, taking the initiative, and simply being a gentleman cannot be underestimated.

My goal in life is to help others. It might sound kind of broad and vague. But that's what I do. I currently work as an Instructional Aide with preschool age children who have been diagnosed with Autism. I love the kids, there are times when they drive me crazy but then the next minute they make me laugh.. It's a fun but exhausting.. (I am currently looking for a job in welfare or social work. I strive on making people's and their families life easier to manage.)
Since I focus a lot of attention on others I find that I can forget about my own needs. I want to find a partner who will let me help them but will also help me. I want someone who wants to be the "all american guy" you can say. I am just hoping he is out there somewhere.

Having said that (I can't say this phrase without thinking of Curb Your Enthusiasm), I am a down to earth person, I enjoy running to stay fit but also because I ran throughout high school and college (XC and track) so I like the competition part as well. Hiking is something else I like, especially in the mountains where the scenery is beautiful. I like camping- moreso in a cabin but tents are okay too. I really love to travel but there are so many places I have yet to see.

What am I grateful for? My loving family who shares my sense of humor, the fact that I have a job, my health, and a cozy bed to sleep in at night. I love all things cozy.
What type of person am I trying to attract? I want someone who can make me laugh. Someone who is active, but they don't have to be ALL about fitness. Sometimes I want to relax and do other, nonactive stuff. Like cooking, watching a movie, reading, and painting. I am looking for someone who is kind, caring, tolerant, but is not a doormat.

I don't believe in selling your soul for money, but I know the value of a dollar and tend to air on the side of saving money instead of spending it. A MAJOR turnoff for me is someone who doesn't manage money because I own a business and live without debt. Drug use is also a deal breaker as it would hamper my business.

I'm not a big fan of fancy restaurants but once in a while it is nice to be treated like royalty. Picnics are cooler though. And I'm really not a fan of movie theaters on dates.
