I was born, raised, and educated in Europe but have been a Californian for the past 28 years. Although I've lived in big cities (including London, Budapest, and San Francisco) for my entire adult life, I love being in Nature and have a recently developed interest in hiking, trekking, and even backpacking, which has taken me to the Andes and the Alps so far and on a quest to hike on a big mountain every year (eventually on every continent?) and visit as many U.S. National Parks as possible. Nonetheless, I am just as comfortable in 3-inch heels as in my hiking boots and am looking for more opportunities to "dress up".
I am grateful for a sound body and mind, for no regrets, and for being able to continue learning, developing new interests, and evolving as a person.

I have a terrific trainer who makes me sweat twice a week. I play at a part time job in an outdoor store with my dearest friends. In fact, 4 of us regularly go camping, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, whitewater rafting, (actually, being launched into the 40 deg rapids helped us check that off our bucket list) One of my friends has a whale watching business, and yesterday we were near the Coronado Islands, up close & personal to some blue whales, not to mention hundreds of leaping dolphins, a minky whale, black nettle jelly fish. I always learn something when I spend time with my friend on the water. Another friend taught me to go under the water, diving in Little Cayman. Being in or on or under the water ranks right up there for me...next to mountains.
I grew up in Idaho, camping in our station wagon and fly fishing on the Snake River with my family. I inherited my mom's love of standing in hip boots in the middle of a river, drinking in the smell of pines and the sounds of the water, waiting and watching for a bite :)) Winters we were ice skating on the frozen field across the street or back yard, or skiing at a local mountain. Twice a year we made the trip to Sun Valley. Some of my best memories are flying into a friend's ranch in the primitive area where we spent our days riding horses, drinking from a stream..I can still remember the taste. As a result, mountains are rooted deeply in me...my favorite go-to place as an adult is my cousins' ranch in Colorado. The minute I first see the mountains emerging I am giddy and smiling.
I have a wonderful family. My son & family (3 grandchildren) live in Kansas City, and I make as many trips there a year as possible. My daughter and family (again, 3 grandchildren...how lucky am I!) live here in San Diego. I can't believe how fast they are growing up...my oldest is 16, driving!!! and plays varsity basketball. My youngest is already 8 going on 25. I feel very blessed to be a young Gramma, actively enjoying their sports, skiing with them or crashing in waves at WindnSea.
My careers included homemaker, direct marketing and catalog manager. My education (BS & some graduate school) is in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. For the past 11 years I have been working part time in my favorite outdoor store where I have found friends who like to play where I like to play, namely the outdoors...we camp in the Sierras, Yosemite, the desert, Tahoe....as often as we can. This group makes me belly laugh, an activity I have found to be essential.
I lived in Italy when I was 19 and am seriously dreaming of returning there for a long-overdue visit. I'm finding this time of life ideal for traveling to other countries to experience the culture, the people, the language the customs and food. I'm sooo ready.
