I am a Buddhist philosophically; very left-wing politically; a voracious reader; an organic gardener; I have been a vegetarian/pescatarian for over forty years, and love to cook. Seventeen years ago, I migrated south to the beaches of northern Baja, Mexico. A few years ago I moved to Hawaii for awhile but didn't dig it, and am now back living in Baja again considering options. I'm open to moving to any warm climate near the ocean, although preferably in the Third World where it is more laid back and there are fewer rules. I am a cracker-jack carpenter and have remodeled five houses, but still hope to build a perfect feng shui beach house from the ground up.
I am not into organized sports, consider golf a snooze, but think fishing is okay if there is enough beer onboard. After two knee surgeries, I consider tennis a killer sport. I have been a runner for many years and especially love long walks, wish I did yoga more often, and I like to swim, especially if it includes a mask and fins and pretty fish. (Although I am certified, I am not into SCUBA - it's just flat out not natural to breath underwater, not to mention way too much paraphernalia.)
I love most music except rap and; opera (I'd rather stick toothpicks under my fingernails), but I am especially into rock'n'roll. I am independent, yet very affectionate and romantic, spontaneous and way adventurous but can be serious and spiritual . I am way low-maintenance and non-materialistic. I can travel for three months out of one carry-on and, except for lumber yards and grocery stores, I hate shopping. I have never had nor wanted kids.
I am originally from the East Coast (D.C. area). In the 60'-80's I spent over twenty years, mostly alone, on my 135 acre Kansas farm growing and canning my own food, raising animals and generally enjoying peace, space and self-sufficiency. During the 80's-early 90's I was actively involved in politics, as a public interest lobbyist for alternative energy who ran a nonprofit group, ultimately serving in the Kansas House of Representatives. I am a politico, very left-wing, and really turned off by the fear factor inherent in conservatives.
