Currently training for this year's century's. Rode 4K for my first year with a road bike...
I just started seriously riding road bicycles. I ride between 50 to 100 miles on the weekends (probably will come down when I get to the level of sufficiency I want). I like the effort, competing with myself to get over the next hill, feeling the wind in my face, jersey fluttering.
Recent adrenaline rush….coming down East Grade Rd of Palomar Mountain at about 35 mph…then locking up the rear wheel (jacket tied around my waist got tangled in the rear wheel) and skidding to a stop on a mountain road without falling (note my feet were clipped in). When I finally came to a stop…the first thing I said was…”what a rush”…however I would not want to do it again….
I like to listen to music in my car…it is the only place I can play music loud anymore (although Circ de Soleil, Beatles Love was fun…you could feel the bass), led zeppelin, nirvana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Hendricks, Eric Clapton, BB King, Eagles, …and where I can listen to other guilty pleasure music without embarrassing myself…Lady Gaga, Hank Williams Sr. (other “traditionalist” country western and more modern…Miranda Lambert, Clint Black, George Straight), Katy Perry, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitan, Strauss waltzes. I like to browse used CD and DVD stores, explore new restaurants, repeatedly patronize those I like (Jake’s at Del Mar, Bronx Pizza, Knock Out Pizza [Carlsbad], Rosina’s [Oceanside], Carmine’s [Oceanside], Milton’s Deli [Del Mar], Carnegie Deli [New York City]). I like bold red wines (D'arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz, some cabs, most zins), not subtle ones. I like stony German resielings.
I don't watch commerical television much, if I like the shows, I buy the complete season to watch without commercials. I like movies, repeatedly watching those I like…why not. Some people read the same book repeatedly, eat the same menu item at their favorite restaurant. Some movies I have watched more than once since the beginning of the year: Kate and Leopold, Under the Tuscan Sun (movie is better than the book…sorry), Avatar, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Casablanca, Band of Brothers, Princess Monoke, the Incredibles, Le Mans.
I like children (I am familiar with Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, where’s waldo [are you familiar with this?]) but don’t have any of my own. I don’t like shopping, but will take a camping stool and listen to my IPOD while you compare handbags. I don’t like sushi, but will order tempura. I am openly communicative and willing to compromise (see immediately above re shopping and Japanese food). My mother trained me to be domestically independent, I can cook a moist roast, tasty meat loaf and slow cooked home made spagettI sauce so I am not looking for a housekeeper SOrry to use a cliche, but I am seeking a companion, a best friend, confidante, advisor, lover. I only wish for you to be a nice person. Hopefully you are also an affectionate person and perhaps share an interest or two with me. If you are seeking a rich affluent person to spoil you, I may not spoil you with material things, but will try with love and affection.
I have so many books I wish to read and no time to read them…
Personality wise, I am kind hearted, considerate, respectful, intelligent, hard working (but determined to maintain a balance of life and work), generous, tolerant, understanding, patient, polite, affectionate (physically and emotionally), with a good sense of humor.
