Meet someone special from United States. You may have seen my profile before now - and if so it might have shown a description of my mother - a lovely 89 year old woman, pictured above. Last April, about three weeks after joining Match, I met a woman that captured all of my attention, and I discontinued the search, as did she. So I started using my profile to introduce my mother and searched for dates for her.
OK - so why am I back now? That is a longish story - but the capturer and I will not be pursuing a long-term commitment - it seemed like everything was going that way for a long time, but at our age it may be more common than I thought to have involvement issues lurking around the corner - especially for someone who has been alone for a long time and has grown to need that total independence and freedom. So - I am looking for someone who is less threatened by a lover who shows his caring in every way possible and wants to contribute as much as possible to the joint experience. On the other hand, I strongly feel it is important that each person maintains their individual identity as much as possible, while sharing everything together, and spending as much time together as possible. A difficult balance, to be sure! But that is the stage of life we are in!
My life is very rich, in every way that counts. I have close men and women friends with whom I can share the pleasures and rewards as well as sadness of life. I have had two careers that I loved, almost 25 years each. I have a wonderful 25 year old son, daughter-in-law who is also my office manager, and beautiful granddaughter. I am constantly challenged, and want to be, for this is how we overcome and learn and enjoy even more of what life has to offer. I love many people, some more completely than others and spend more time with some than others and believe that "what the head makes cloudy the heart makes very clear", although I have always been a very theoretically oriented and logical person! I think that it is hard at our age to have a "committed relationship" that allows the kind of personal quest that I think we all need - but I feel that two people can truly be in love, intimate and affectionate, without compromising either persons freedom, as long as the trust is strong and true. I am drawn to strong, challenging, independent women, but manipulative people I can do without. If you aren't totally up front and open and honest then we're wasting our time. The Golden Rule wins.
I can't think of anything in my life I would do differently - even the disasters worked out for the best. I plan to look back on life from the end and be happy with what I see, and so far I am on track. But it means a lot to me to share this experience with someone. I recently shared this with my father who lived with me for the last three months of his life. On my father's death bed, he remarked to the technician who had just done an ultrasound on his bladder: "Oh no, things are going from bladder to worse!" This is my sense of humor too, so if you can't stand a bad pun, I am not your guy! I got to be the last person my Father ever kissed, but the nurse was the second-to-last!
