I'm the kind of guy who tries not to take life too seriously, except when it comes to really important things, such as the way our government is destroying the environment, and seriously harming the World's peace. I think that describes my politics. My pleasures are tennis, games (board, cards, etc.), gardening, tinkering in the garage, traveling, movies, theater, dining out or in. I occasionally can finish the New York Times Sunday crossword without cheating. I enjoy cooking as well as eating (almost anything). I appreciate fine wines and gourmet foods, but also beer and pizza. I take classes if they interest me, but have no desire to get another degree (my first was in English). Traveling is one of my passions, and I have been many places. My preference is to go somewhere where the tourists don't go, even if it means roughing it (somewhat). I am a bit shy (that's why I am here), but if you get to know me I will make you laugh, and will give you stimulating conversation. I have lived many places and worked in many professions, but my longest job was in the computer business. I have been alone long enough that I need to put myself back out there, but I want to take it slow.
I am not sure if I could ever live with a woman again, but I still have desires, for friendship as well as other things. At this stage of life it is difficult for me to know what I really want. I would enjoy meeting women who have similar interests, and have no expectations. Life should be getting simpler, but maybe it isn't. The honest truth is, if there is such a thing, is that I would enjoy a nice meal with someone with similar thoughts as mine. My main criterias are that you are unhappy with the direction that our country is going, and you have to be accomodating to someone who does not believe in God.Basically my ideal match would be a compliment to my description of myself. She must be intelligent and have a sense of humor. If she is too serious I would not enjoy the company. I have to admit that politics is an important factor for me. Chemistry would not be enough to overcome a conservative viewpoint. A regard for the environment, human rights, civil liberties, peace, starving and sick people here and abroad, is a big part of what defines a person's character. Making rich people richer at the expense of everything else, is a horrible way to run a country. It also should be known that at this point I am only looking for dinner and conversation.   I would like to meet a fellow traveler, someone who is not interested in frequenting the typical tourist areas. It isn't even imperative that a traveling companion has to involve romance (that would be a plus, obviously). I have even traveled with my ex since my divorce. We have been to Las Vegas a couple of times and to Ireland (as friends).
My last 2 trips were to Chile and China, and I am thinking of Thailand or Vietnam, or perhaps an African safari. I also want to return to Costa Rica, or perhaps travel to Venezuela to see how the evil Chavez is handling his country. Part of what I enjoy about Latin America is that I know enough Spanish to get by--barely.
