I have a lot of interests. I like to write, read, cook, run, talk and more. Just a little about me: I'm both creative and athletic. I'm a published playwright and one of my plays ran for over two years here in L.A. I exercise regularly including hiking, yoga, tennis and pitching in a hardball league. I'm also always open to new things. Family is extremely important to me. I grew up in a great home. My parents celebrated 61 incredible years and I've always known that I was lucky to have them. My current family includes my two sons (almost men now, ages 18 and 15, who I'm very close with). Date someone special from California, United States. Welcome to my little corner of the internet where you can relax, be yourself and look around for a while. Come by as often as you like, I don't mind. OK so no doubt you are wondering who is this guy and whats his story. I'll spare you a self serving, egocentric description of my self as that would be way too boring for the both of us, not to mention the difficulty of my trying to keep a straight face while I write it.
Situationally I'm a single Dad with two teen aged daughters who give me both endless delight and some torment. Through them I have learned respect for the transformational power of adolescent hormones ! Work wise I program computers for a living. Although you may think this makes me a "geek", I do not feel the need to gush about the latest trends in phone and tablet technology, engage in endless techno babble, or incessantly text or tweet every minute detail of my life. Truth be told, my current cell phone is as dumb as a rock and pitifully behind the technology curve.
In the little spare time that I do have, I practice a energy art similar to Tai Chi. This not only provides a much needed energy ("chi") boost, but also helps to maintain parity in the battle to raise two daughters. At one point in the distant past, I was a Fine Arts major and though I don't have time for art projects, I genuinely appreciate creative musings and eclectic points of views. I don't subscribe to the left versus right brain dominance theory as far as my personality goes, and I think it might be a myth created by some left half brain dominated person. Philosophically my outlook stands somewhere between Janis Joplin's admonishment to "Get off your butt and feel things" to a Peter Pan like refusal to leave Neverland. I don't mean this to sound as though everything needs to be exciting and over the top. Rock concerts, roller coasters and going out of the dance floor is just as appealing as sitting on the beach and taking in the enormity of the ocean or those moments of pregnant silence where no words need to be spoken.
So what kind of person am I looking for ? Well apart from the obvious (and non negotiable) requirement that you need to be able to put up with me, I'm hoping to find someone who is open and not afraid to let go when the feelings are right. Do you still remember what love feels like? That feeling when the world and life starts to appear incredibly beautiful and a warm blissful emotion wells up inside, releasing deep longings and forgotten desires? Hopefully you haven't forgotten or think that it only happens in the movies or that real relationships are too complicated and businesslike to permit feelings like that.
I am definitely drawn by genuineness and the desire for depth and something real more than by external characteristics such as hair color, weight, race, ethnicity, etc. Of course a sense of humor, eccentricity, and being non judgmental doesn't hurt either. However I am not looking to find my "ideal" or "perfect" partner since the ups and downs and blemishes of real of life are far more interesting and unpredictable than anything I could hope to imagine or fantasize about. The real perfection is in the dynamics when we are together and what we bring out in each other.
