Hello. I'm fairly certain those reading my profile possess a sense of humor. We're on Match together!!! Describing oneself is more challenging than describing the ingredients within a meatloaf or grease dripping down the side of a sink. Basically, I am diminutive, 5'2", (5'5" in heels) slender, fit from yoga, a good diet and walking. I'm blond with blue eyes. Friends mutter from time to time that, "I'm easy on the eye," although hopefully there are more enduring attributes.
Early years were spent in school, The University of California in Santa Barbara and grad work at Cornell in Ithaca, New York. A year at the Sorbonne in Paris. I am still a student, taking three French classes a week although honestly, I'm not an egg-head, hopefully more likely a stylish beach bum. Work-wise, my time is my own. Some days in the office, some days traveling to Europe or back and forth from L.A. to Santa Barbara (where I have a small, underline small beach condo).
Over many years, being involved in the film business has afforded me wonderful opportunities. I've traveled to several countries in Europe, many U.S. cities as well as India, Korea, Canada, Mexico, etc. Been fortunate to meet royals, Indian Maharajas as well as beautiful and interesting people from various cultures and from all walks of life. I still own and manage a small film company -- last project involved a documentary about early British cinema.
My husband was a film director. My marriage was longterm. Two years ago I became a widow which might best be described as a strange new world -- where almost all friends, even strangers in restaurants -- are in couples. My best wish would be to become part of that world -- to become the other half of a couple. It would be wonderful to find a true friend, someone who loves to laugh with a sense of kindness. Early on, my father noticed my wanderlust and called me " a gitan' which is French for gypsy. I was fascinated by discovering someplace new. The location did not have to be particularly exotic, a hiking trail, bike path, skating rink, fresh water lake or stream to swim in. Or a city with museums, music halls, theatres or restaurants. At age 16, while standing in line in a super market, I found a magazine with pictures of mountains ranges from different parts of the world. I bought that magazine and kept it on a shelf next to my bed for years. In the late 70's with not more than with a backpack and camera system, I set out to climb those mountains and did not return to the states until I had. The spirit of adventure led me to climb Kilamanjaro, walk in the Himalayas outside Nepal, follow the Camino de Las Incas in Peru and spend some time in the South Seas and finally, walk the Routeburn trek in New Zealand.
I worked along the way selling time shares on Bora Bora, Teaching English at the Banque Nationale de Paris, and ultimately starting my own company in Paris introducing chocolate chip cookies and brownies to the French. C'etais tres amusant!
In 1985, having visited a few countries, I returned to the U.S. with the desire to make a difference and contribute in some capacity to help others
An early interest in psychology, and a background in science, led to a focus on the neurobiology of emotional development and mindfulnesss.
