Okay, here’s where I, admittedly, may appear a tad less than irresistible on paper (or viewing screen) to some depending on perspective (although I hope you’ll find redeeming aspects), so feel free with arms flailing to run in the opposite direction if the following horrifies: I am recently separated (five months) and have four (beautiful) sons (7, 11, 13 & 14) whom I split custody. My young men are the best thing that ever happened to me, you should know, and I am a loving, involved father. Mon-Weds, I rent a room in a house (Long Beach) shared with a female (lesbian—no sexual tension, perfect) who’s the owner; Thurs-Sun, I live with my sons in the home (Lakewood) that I own while their mother lives elsewhere with her folks (this co-op residency arrangement, at least for the time being, has retained a positive degree of continuity for our kids). Moreover (i.e., in the “questionable-catch” department if you’re still reading), I (primarily) roll in a 1990 Corolla that’s bound to underwhelm any potential date subscribing to the tenet “you are what you drive” (my “good” car is a Sienna minivan also reflective of my former, nobody-to-impress, married life—unlike today, of course, where a late model sedan, restored classic or anything with a modicum of style, might prove advantageous—but hey, both vehicles are paid for, and while I will eventually acquire a better main ride, the Corolla just won’t die).
Putting these disclosures up front may present a risky “Match.com” strategy, I realize. Perhaps, however, if you met me in person you would find plenty appealing. True, in addition to the above, I’m 51 years old—but in very good physical shape (not a muscle-head, mind you, just well-toned—and improving—from working out nearly every day), 150 lbs, 29” waistline, 5’8” in height (yeah, not the tallest guy, either, yet technically not short). Often I’ve been told that I am youthful in appearance. I certainly feel youthful in outlook. Other attributes include having a decent job in Environment, Health and Safety, so despite dual households I can afford to pay my own way and/or treat. Besides exercising at the gym, I’ve been spending once or twice a week figure skating, of all things, because my 7 year old developed a strong interest and, as a result, I’ve become a regular Brian Boitano on ice. I (particularly) enjoy reading fiction and nonfiction. I also write (undergraduate BA in English, UCLA). Last year I completed a first draft of a young adult novel that requires extensive revision and am gearing to return to it. Also, lately, finding more time on my hands, I’ve been seriously thinking about shooting a “no” (not “low”) budget movie on video (tell you more if you ask in person).
I like to think that I am a kind, affectionate, easy-going, loyal friend (I’ve had the same best friend since I was 6 years old), with a sense of playfulness, wry yet optimistic, comfortable alone or in a crowd among all types of people. In restaurants, I can negotiate silverware or chopsticks. Whether ESL or native and fluent, I am open if you think we would be attracted. I’m attracted to every ethnicity (I am “mixed” but you’d probably assume, as others seem to, that I’m strictly white—furthermore, my sons’ mother is from China so consider they are everything: North, South, West and East).
Philosophically, I always say that I do not have to have a lot of things, just the right things. I also like to think that I would rock the right woman. And she me. I don’t kid myself, however, that this would occur with every woman. Just the right one.

I have been divorced for 6 years and I am friendly with my ex wife. She recently got engaged and I am nothing but happy for her. Some things I enjoy are road and mtn biking, skiing and snowboarding, traveling to any beach location, scuba, zip lining, hiking through the rain forest, Lake Powell, jet skiing, wake boarding, sky skiing, house boating and pretty much anything that includes water. I love the sun and yes I do spend too much time in it. Nothing is more relaxing to me than diving in the am and laying on the beach in the afternoon! I have traveled to many awesome places but have so many more on the bucket list. In the last year I have Mtn. biked in Malaga Spain, flew an Ultra light in Kauai, and Kayaked with Dolphins in Las Barrellas Mexico. I have yet to make it to Fiji and Australia but both are on my short list.
I can be a very romantic person and I would very much like to feel that true connection with a lady. I do miss that... I can be sensitive at times, very communicative and I will always tell you exactly what I am thinking. I try and live with as little drama as possible and my baggage is minimal.
