Well...in the interest of honestly and full disclosure, I've only been divorced since 03/10. This was after 21 yrs of monogamous marriage (where the "writing was on the wall" for the last several yrs). So...while I have only been legally divorced for a relatively short time, I've been mentally divorced for quite some time. That having been said, I'm not looking for a "rebound relationship", or for meaningless casual sex. I have 2 great kids...a 6' daughter age 20 attending college in Nebraska on a basketball scholarship and a 6'-8" (and still growing) son age 17 who will be doing the same in Colorado. He lives with me every other week & is my #1 priority at this time.
My #2 priority is a 1.5 year young yellow lab pup (actually fox red in color) because the little rascal needs almost constant attention. I raise my dogs to be well trained and that means spending significant time with them when they're pups and some "tough love". But it's well worth it - the unconditional love and companionship of a well behaved dog is priceless.
My passion from 2001 until roughly 3 years ago was boating - Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge are 2 of my favorites (I should probably live in Utah). The boat was sold during the divorce, but I plan to get another nicer one some day to share the unique experiences that boating provides with my partner.
My current passion - weather permitting - is riding my BMW R1150GS 'Adventure' motorcycle. If you like to ride that's great, if you don't that's fine too. I'm not the type that rides with a group or frequents 'biker bars' - I simply enjoy the freedom of the ride and seeing Colorado on 2 wheels. I don't have any tattoos, nor do I have any plans to get one.
I'm also a certified scuba diver, but I don't do it nearly as often as I should. One of my dreams is to visit Australia and the dive the Great Barrier Reef. I do like traveling, but airplanes are no picnic when you are 6'-9", and that takes some of the fun out of it.
I was raised to live below your means and stay out of debt - and that's what I do. I have an exceptionally high credit score. Saving religiously my whole career and avoiding 'The Great Recession" with my retirement has provided me an above average amount of retirement savings for my age and income level. That having been said, I am nearing the empty nest phase and ready to "live a little".
To quote the lyrics of my favorite musician: "I'm looking for a smart woman in a real short skirt" (and if you know who that musician is - and like him and his music - we'll likely really hit it off). BUT SERIOUSLY, at this point in my life I'm much more interested in the "smart" than I am in the "short skirt." Make no mistake - physical attraction (athletic/tall/etc.) is important to me - but intelligence, education, financial acumen, honesty, integrity - i.e., simply having your "stuff" together is equally - if not more - important.
There's 3 things I'm most definitely NOT interested in: 1) a "damsel in distress" 2) to be your "sugar daddy" 3) helping you raise your pre-teen children. Being a single parent myself, I have a tremendous amount of respect for you single moms - especially with young kids. But I've "been there, done that, got the t-shirt."
