Date a soulmate from Berkeley, United States. I am a retired academic and a continuing progressive political activist. Although I've been trying to lose that nasty 15 lbs for many years, I am something of a hiker and gym rat. Since retirement I've sat in on many courses at Cal, ranging from Renaissance Art, Energy Policy, Geology, and Shakespeare. So I'm interested in a lot of different things.
I usually catch the major exhibitions at the Bay Area Museums, some of the local theater, and not as much music as I would like - but I just can't go out every night.
I travel regularly, usually on trips that are associated with hiking - but not always. I'll spare you my list of past destinations. I'm always open to travel ideas. I've been to fewer places than I'd like to have been.
I'd like to meet a woman who is interested in sharing at least some of my interests, introduce me to things that I've never done before, and from whom I can learn. I like the idea of making plans.
I'm looking for a steady companion and, if it works out, an intimate relationship.

Although I have a full life, I spend more time alone than I would like (my friends have rather busy lives) and I wish to make more friends locally and maybe even meet a special someone with whom to exchange foot rubs for back rubs! I’m an inveterate reader of mostly non-fiction including the current economic situation (and solutions), physics and metaphysics, and many magazines. I also enjoy science fiction.
My musical tastes run from New Age to Classical, Opera, Latin, and 50’s Rock and Roll but no CW! I love to tell funny stories and jokes (clean) and enjoy puns! I have a deep intellectual curiosity and constantly question our dominant paradigms and love to exchange views with others – in a civil manner, of course.
Currently I’m exploring the intersection of Quantum Mechanics and metaphysics to gain some insight into our 3D existence.
Of course I love all the usual activities mentioned in so many personals – walks on the beach, sunsets, museums, a glass of wine by a fireside …….
