Out of choice I spend 80% of my time alone. 5 months a year I live 7 miles from a pave road, 26 miles to the grocery store, at 9,000' elevation. Southwest Colorado. I have gone as long as 30 days without seeing or speaking to anyone.
However, I am very comfortable, fluid and engaging in social and business situations.
My wife and I averaged 15 hours a day together, 365 days a year for 25 years.
There is a Zen koan that goes: "things are not as they seem, nor are they otherwise". That saying can be applied to my age.
I will be part of a 4 person bike team racing in the 2012 Race Across America (RAAM). RAAM is the toughest bike race in the world, It is twice as long as the Tour d France in one third the time. This year the fastest 4 person team biked across the US in 5 days, 17 hours. I am 52, 48, 35 years older than my team mates. From a physical and vitality perspective I am closer to their age than my chronological age.
I have been doing yoga for 30 plus years. I have been doing zazen (sitting meditation) in the Zen tradition for 30 plus years.
On the handsome scale I have been told that I am in the acceptable range, maybe a little bit more, and I am extremely fit If we communicate I will explain why I do not have a photo of myself on my profile.
I am not much for small talk. Substantive, probing and logical conversation is my preference. I watch very little TV, mostly PBS, The Daily Show With John Stewart and a little news.
I retired from the active business world in 1973. Since then I have been an early stage investor in startups.
Most of my time is consumed by the foundation I founded 10 years ago. Its mission is to provide safe drinking water to rural communities in developing nations. Since founding it, it has become the organizing principle of my life.
I have traveled 2.5 million miles, therefore, I am not too interested in traveling. There are three place I want to be: My Colorado cabin, my Kentfield,CA home, Puako, HI. Other than that I have only traveled on foundation.business. However, a partnership is just that. Partners willingly accommodate to the needs, wants and desires of their partner.
