I will never make you a sports widow...except during the playoffs. I love watching hockey, but on the ice I'm a danger to myself and others. I have yet to see a bicyclist on the streets of San Francisco who actually obeyed the traffic laws. I believe that stuffing is evil (cooked IN the turkey, that is). I own a white polyester suit, a foot-tall afro wig and white patent-leather disco shoes with 4-inch heels, and they look damn good on me. I like (parentheses)...and ellipses.

You are more of a city person than a country person, though you don't mind the occasional taste o' nature...especially if it involves visiting vineyards. I was born in San Francisco but I haven’t lived in The City since I was a little kid so, after being back for about a year, I’m still finding my way around. Except for a few years back east for grad school, I’ve lived my whole life in Northern California, however, including a few years on a horse ranch.
I’m a late bloomer; there’s no getting away from it. When I was younger, I was quite shy and easily embarrassed. It took a late start in college to bring out my more confident side. Unfortunately, I let school dominate eight years of my life and, while I ended up with some nifty diplomas, I came out the other end at 36 without much of a personal life.
It doesn’t help that I’m a chemist, specifically a chemistry professor. Chemistry is basically nobody’s favorite subject (even though it should be). I promise I’m not dull and boring but I do like my science and I see no reason to apologize for that. I have a lot of other interests, though, including art (I used to draw quite a bit), food and cooking, hiking and outdoors (looking for more excuses to get out), and movies (I’m more likely to see an arthouse film than a summer blockbuster but I’m no snob). I tend to avoid bars since I don’t drink (no problems with it; I just don’t care for the taste) and I hate having to yell to have a conversation.
I hope it doesn’t put you off when I say that I’m a basic Nice Guy (they say we never win but the game's not over yet). Humility is my favorite trait in others and I hold kindness and integrity very highly. I’m no softie, though; I will stand up for myself and those around me, fiercely if need be. I love kids and animals, mostly because they are unburdened by adult pretensions; they want love and are willing to love you back without a lot of fuss.
