After finishing my PhD and working as a research scientist, I moved to Santa Monica in 2009 to do a MBA. Theoretically, I was in a part time program, but I took a bunch of extra classes so I spent the last two years effectively as a full time student. I moved back to San Francisco in September 2011 to run a small company I started doing medical research funded by the government. Outside of work, I try to go to the gym and like to stay fit. I also enjoy trying new restaurants and getting drinks with friends. I’ve been really busy with work since I moved back to SF, so somehow I’ve managed to eat and drink more than work out. Go figure. My favorite meal out is definitely weekend brunch. Nothing beats some hash browns and bacon-egg scramble on a croissant at MyMy Caf? after a Saturday night on the town. My main daily exercise is walking to work every day (Nob Hill to downtown). I used to be a pretty good tennis player, so I’m definitely up for picking up a racket to play with the right girl :) I do like to travel to new places. I would guess I’ve done between 10 and 20 international trips, but I’m not really sure (mostly to Western Europe, but also Asia and South America). I’m heading to Puerto Rico in June for a conference, so that should be fun. I’d like to have kids someday, so I’m hoping to start a serious relationship in the near future.
As for what I’m looking for in you, I’m sort of a believer in the opposites attract philosophy. For example, most of the women I’ve dated have vastly different political views from me. That doesn’t bother me, but I think it’s one of those things that can make online dating hard since everyone seems to want to date a person with all the same interests and hobbies as them which doesn’t seem to be the way it works if you meet people in the “real” world. I do seem to be drawn to dynamic personalities and smart girls. Note that smart and educated are necessarily synonyms, I’ve dated girls with high school diplomas and PhD’s and known plenty of dumb people with advanced degrees.
