I seem to find myself back on this site sort of my accident but maybe the universe is telling me that a good match is now out there waiting to be discovered who wasn't there before. You won't find many pictures of me because frankly I don't have any and have not gotten around to having some taken. I'm usually taking pictures not in them. I am told my best feature are my eyes which were once called 'bedroom' eyes. Quite a line, huh? Character, sense of humor and kindness are more important to me than looks. My friends will say that I am easy going, actually my attention span isn't long enough to stay upset over anything. I believe that the more you know about the world, the more you will get out of it. I can usually find something interesting to read in the dentist office magazine rack even if the National Geographic magazines are ancient. I love to travel though usually don't go for the package tours except for places that I just don't feel comfortable traveling unguided. Took tours for China, Macho Pichu, Turkey and India last year, where we stayed in a tiger reserve and saw a magnificent male quite close up. Otherwise I prefer driving and exploring. Greece and Italy are my favorites for that so far, though Holland, Portugal, Ireland, England were good too. I'm hoping for Cyprus, France and Scandinavia in the near future.
I have to be honest that I'm not really very athletic though am certified in scuba but discovered that I have a bit of claustrophobia. Used to sail when I lived in Long Beach and loved that. Love anything to do with the ocean. Lived on Kauai in Hawaii for several years in my hippie youth. Hiked with the Sierra Club in Griffith Park before I got a house which now takes up quite a bit of spare time. I'm thinking of getting a bike for the beach. Otherwise my exercise is mostly gardening these days and exploring on vacation. Such is life! I don't mind if the men in my life enjoy sports though as long as they have some other interests and are not golf fiends or couch potato TV watchers or don't require me to sit there with them.
Instead I'll being looking at road maps or smelling my roses.....

Haven't traveled much while raising kids,but they are grown now so I'm off to see the world. I did spend 2 wks in Istanbul, and would happily return there tomorrow! Also, just came back from Maui and Kauai for the first time...lovely! I have also spent much time on the Central Coast, Seattle, Washington state and love Vancouver Island!
Finally, I appreciate compassion, and hope to find it in another even as I work to cultivate it in myself. It's fun to talk books, art, movies while we polish off a nice bottle of wine and tapas... that's a glimpse into my idea of a good time.
I retired from teaching in June 2011 and have my volunteer activities lined up, but there's always time and space to build new relationships, with laughter and appreciation for "Life's Rich Pageant" as REM once put it.

I read at least one book every week, sometimes more -- I no longer buy books and love the library, and when I find a good author, I go to the website of the LA Public Library to request everything he/she has written, and then read all of it.
