Date single man from California, United States. I'm told i'm a patient, understanding man of many interests & abilities. I've traveled extensively, exploring varieties of experiences of numerous cultures. I get along well with most everyone, avoid judging others, dislike 'gossip' & 'frivolous' activities, though i can easily 'hang out' for the sake of relaxing & engaging with others, especially with those who have different life experiences, as i feel we are a human family of a 'salad bowl' nature: a mix of everything we each bring to the 'conversation'.
I don't feel i'm 'better' than anyone-- though i am clearly 'different', which is what makes it fun in the mix. Laughter IS the best medicine, we can all 'lighten up' a bit, and feel that VERY few of the things people get upset about are really worth throwing the body's chemistry into the 'crisis' that results from being upset. I'm not attached to whether anyone agrees or not with me, yet i do clearly enjoy engaging in conversation re: things i feel are important, mostly on a global level: water, food, poverty tolerance & political issues which cause uneven sharing of resources, though i avoid direct conversations of a radical nature, as experience has shown me that it's rare that one's mind is changed much, it merely degrades to a 'who's right who's wrong' debate (specific religions, politics, issues, etc.).
I'm not a fan of so-called 'reality' shows, as they have very little to do with reality, other than ego-centric people who seem to feel that 'their' world does (obviously my 'assessment':-) ). I'm not very tolerant of those who 'waste' things, though i realize that is definitely my bias, as a result of many of the heart-wrenching experiences i've had in places like Afghanistan, parts of India & Africa, etc. That said, i realize those are my choices, and mine are no more relevant to others than theirs are to me, it's merely our experiences, which again, is what makes the mix of the human family so diverse and wonderful.
As a paramedic, i've had extremely high-profile politicians, actors & actresses, musicians, sports & media personalities, etc., in the back of my ambulances, yet i treated them with the same appropriate attention as i have the homeless, whose 'choices' have landed them in much more difficult circumstances than others... no better, no worse, yet yes, different.
Most important to me are issues of character & integrity, self-esteem, sharing, empathy, making a positive difference, life-long learning, (i've also been an EMS educator for the past 24 years) and approaching things with a relatively open mind, though i am 'opinionated' about specific issues.
I love hanging out with others, having experiences with numerous, diverse friends & their friends, yet my personal happiness is not attached to expectations of others doing not doing specific activities. As a paramedic, having often seen 'mankind's inhumanity to mankind', i've learned to avoid judging others, as it seems to cloud one's ability to 'engage' with others in life with an open mind, allowing others to be who they are, without compromising the possibilities of seeing another's point of view perspective.
I like the presence of women, though many of my friends are male, as your 'species' is 'wired' differently ('MarsVenus) than mine, and hence the intrigue. I am not a fan of 'fighting' competition etc., though i realize many are. Probably the most common comment i get from my students at the end of the semesters, is how my 'way of looking at things' has altered their ability to allow others to be the way they are, without 'making them wrong' (their words!).
I've been divorced for 10 years (me Aquarian she Capricorn-- knew it could be a challenge, yet felt we could 'complement' each other; yet she left), yet i've not spoken an ill word about her to anyone. Things change, and we either adapt, or get stuck. It's a 'choice'.
This is my first go round with this, but my gut said "GO", so i did.
