Meet a soulmate from United States. I've just moved back to the East Bay from Oregon. I lived in Lafayette from 84-94, then moved east of Portland for 15 years, to a wonderful home on a river full of salmon. It was lovely part of the year, but the endless winter rain finally got to me, and I'm delighted to be back , near sister and lots of old friends. I have a renewed appreciation for winter sun, early wildflowers, and all the joys of California! I'm loving the new restaurants that have sprung up, and all the old things I loved doing when I was here before.
I'm a mostly-retired Advanced-Practice nurse, educator, and writer. I'm completing a book on my medical specialty and do a lot of online consultation. It's all on my own schedule, though, and I take off very regularly.
I'm also a very serious nature photographer, and like to take trips near and far for photography. I love anything outside - hiking, boating, Napa, the coast, the redwoods, fishing, day and weekend trips as well as longer ones. I love live music, wine tasting, hot tubs, and almost anything with warm company.
I'm a pretty independent creature, but would love to share the wonders and joys of this great life, in many ways. There are endless possibilities.
As a health care professional, I often deal with people who are ill and have not taken very good care of themselves. I have great empathy for them, but I'm serious about good health habits in myself, and wish this in a partner as well - but neither of us is perfect! I can hit the ice cream and junk food like a pro sometimes. :-)
I'm a bit on the quiet side, and see no need to fill every space with chatter. Sometimes, just holding hands and sharing a moment in silence communicates volumns.
I'm pretty adventurous. I lived and cruised on a large boat - half mine - for 3 years. East coast, Panama, central America, west coast, BC, AK. have been to the Amazon and the Galapagos Islands, and love any new adventure - both near and far. A warm, peaceful home base is also very important to me - nice gardens. nearby paths to hike, hummers at the feeders, hawks in the sky.
I'm very grateful for many things, and believe in giving back thru volunteer work, mentoring, helping to build schools and clinics in other countries.
I have no pre-conceived "physical requirements" in a potential partner, as far as hair color, size, or other superfluous things. I'm much more interested in a guy's brain, heart and soul than in outward appearances, as long as he is well-groomed, mannerly, honest, sincere, and open to developing a really wonderful relationship with strong enough roots to get thru the inevitable rough spots.
