Meet a woman from California, United States. I'm nearing the end of a long career in teaching and looking forward to having time to getting out and doing more. Since most of my friends are through work I need to broaden my horizons. Perhaps there is more than friendship in my future. I was married for 32 years and have been legally separated for 10.
I have a son still living at home and I would be happy to meet someone with children and grandchildren.
I enjoy travel to learn about people and history. I've been to Switzerland (from which part of my family immigrated), France, Italy, Netherlands, a little of Germany and China. The picture is me trying Kolsch in Cologne Germany. I don't care for beer generally but between three of us we finished the bottle! I would love to see India and Costa Rica. Travel would be so much more fun with a partner.
I try to get out and walk the dog (Heinz 57) every day and exercise pretty regularly. I'm blessed with good health and judging from family history have about 30 more years to play with.
My garden is my joy and my plague! I maintain a couple dozen fruit trees on an acre and a half. Sometimes that is my greatest joy but sometimes its a lot of work , spending my vacation pruning right now.
Reading has always been important to me, both for escape and for exploring new ideas. I like Discover magazine and pick up periodicals whenever I'm in awaiting room but have no use for stuff like People magazine and couldn't name most "celebrities" if my life depended on it.
I don't sit for long very well. I'd like someone who would go kayaking, hiking, bird watching, to the theater. Dinner out is always nice and I like to try new places and foods. I'll try dancing but I'm not very good. I'm currently learning line dancing.
I would like to do volunteer work when I retire in the next year or so. (It wont be typing! that's worse than my dancing ) I care about education (duh!) and promoting sustainable environmental policies, but I need to just relax and have fun!
I spent 5 years in Fairbanks Alaska (going to school) and while I can cross-country ski I've really had enough winter to last a long time. Warm weather and snorkeling would be nicer.
