the reason i think this is important, is that i do spend time in bars.
i don't drink to excess, i don't smoke, and dispite what your parents told you long ago, i am definitely a one woman guy.
but, i've read a lot of profiles dealing with the desire not to hang out in bars.
it's kind of what i do, often, not all the time.
i have a good support group of family and friends, and we like live music.
(and not necessarily the sunday morning kind, need a bit more volume)
i also support my friends who are musicians.
some times i go to listen, to clap at the end of the songs, to try and bring others in.
i also sometimes sit in, and have been known to run sound for other bands.
then there is the children thing.
i have three, youngest is 30.
but i have a 33 year old son who lives with me.
he has MS, and is disabled to the point that he can't work, and can't drive.
he mostly takes care of himself, so it's not like i'm tied to the house, and my son.
it's not hard to get away for a time, long weekend, or even a regular, real-live vacation.
but on the other hand, i'm not in the situation where i could decide to run away for a couple days on a moments notice.
i have to plan out some basic necesities for him.
other than that, he's pretty quiet, living in the basement.

Family is important, friendships too... I enjoy helping others, nature, hiking, biking, the beach, tennis, rollerblading, all the usual fun stuff: film, (small) theater, great dinners at home or out, etc... Playing music (keyboards, flute, guitar, percussion), and learning whenever possible.

For me, the greatest happiness comes when able to help in some way... to make someone, or something, feel or be a bit better, in even the smallest of ways.
