I think I can sum it up this way. My parents have been married over 40 years and I truly believe their marriage works because there were 3 people in it: my mom, my dad and them as a married couple. My mom had her own goals, hobbies and likes, so did my dad. They were always supportive of one another but never felt that they had to like every single thing the other one did. If an event or a trip was super important to the one of them, the other one went, but they also traveled with friends and attended things without one another on occasion.

All jokes aside, I actually just grew up as Daddy’s Little Girl – loving sports and learning about tools.
