I work out at a gym nearly every day; it makes me feel good and energized. English riding consumed my free time for over 15 years in my late thirties and forties but I decided to quit due to wear-and-tear on my body as well as a few serious falls over fences. Yes, I know: the objective is to stay on the horse but sometimes when you reach just a bit beyond your capabilities, accidents (also positive things) happen. As far as activities are concerned, I'd be just as happy at a horse show or taking a hike in the woods as at a symphony, concert, ballet or art exhibit (although I enjoy those too).
I love mountainous and wild landscapes and grew up backpacking and camping in the Sierras. In Alaska, I backpacked with a group of friends from Girdwood to Eagle River, a trek that took three days in the wilderness crossing glaciers along the way. Another fabulous Alaska adventure...flying from Talkeetna to the Denali base camp in a ski-plane.
My family has been in Petaluma since the late 19th century so I consider myself a native Californian. I grew up in a relatively conservative family on a small ranch just outside of the city limits. I left home to pursue my education and used this as a vehicle to explore the world studying at various universities and visiting many countries. Following my studies, I worked for a major oil company (Accounting and System Design) in Anchorage, on the North Slope (near the Arctic Ocean), in Houston, and in San Francisco before returning home. My education, work experience, and varied travels have put a polished patina on someone who is still a down-to-earth country girl at heart.
In closing, I'm more sweet than sassy, even-tempered than emotional, independent than a social butterfly, understated than talkative, and a lark more than a night owl. I prefer direct speech over PC and small intimate gatherings over large crowds. I have opinions but am not combative, believe in self-reliance and taking responsibility for your own behavior, and need some quiet time each day to read and pursue my interests.
