• OK Cupid: 50% people who claim to be "musicians" or "artists" but who actually make their money "waiting tables," 20% hipster hotties who take themselves and their tattoos too seriously, 15% left-leaning preppy guys who decorate their bedrooms with pictures of stadiums, 10% inexplicable rednecks, 4% dudes with kids, 1% of people who are doing it as a joke
• Match.com: Uncreative types who aren't yet ready to admit that they kind of want to get married. More conservative-less weird than OK Cupid.
• eHarmony: People who want to skip over all of the fun stuff and just married. Women who love Anne Geddes and still have "The Rachel" haircut. Sexually frightened men who own nice dishes.
• Craigslist: Human traffickers.
Match.com is definitely more in line with where I am in my life. For instance, I'm above average with my creativity. I can draw some mean looking stick figures-emoticons =-) and I can hold my own with Pictionary. I do have a hard time admitting that I want to get married someday. I guess right now marriage is on the bottom of the needs and wants list. Getting to know someone, enjoying life, focusing on my career, traveling, and family are all forefront to the "M" word. I am definitely more conservative-less weird than the people on OK cupid. Although, that’s not saying very much because just browsing on OK cupid for a minutes makes Match.com worth every penny.

Professionally...
The medical sciences have fascinated me since my first college neuroscience class. I bucked med school though, and went on a little odyssey. When I taught 8th grade science in Spanish Harlem for two years, I discovered that paychecks were important, but that I would nevertheless envy non-profit workers for the rest of my days. When I worked in biotech, I discovered that intangible molecules, however powerful, kinda bore me. (And then!) I sold a surgical navigation system that enabled brain surgeons to yank out tumors through the nose instead of boring a massive hole thru the skull; this saved patients a two-week hospital stay… And got me hooked on medical devices. After that I sold skin for burn patients and fell deeper in love with the industry. I left sales and went into marketing / product development / sales training for a lil’ orthopedic company up here in Valencia about two years ago. We make some pretty awesome stuff that I become more proud of every day. I am getting an MBA, part-time, at UCLA. This kicks my ass 40 weeks a year, but I love it. Learning a ton, and my classmates are exceptionally bright, good people. Long-term, I will be a sales and marketing exec working with game changing technologies in the medical device arena.
Physically…
I have a presence in any room. I am tall, strong and fit. My eyebrows will blow your mind.
Socially…
My undergrad buddies are really spread out around the country and my high school pals are mostly down in OC. So until I went back to school, my LA crew was pretty small. Now it’s ridiculously large, which keeps things really fresh. Once in a while I’m the life of the party guy, but most of the time, I prefer hanging out with small groups of people, having good convo and lots of laughs. I am a real smartass and enjoy sharing my time with other smartasses.
Hobbies…
I’m a music junkie—mostly rock. (Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beasties, all things Jack White, the Shins, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, the Doors, Nirvana, Mumford and Sons, Bon Iver… I think you get the idea: I like white guys with guitars). I go to lots and lots of shows. I used to read lots and lots of literature, but that’s the last thing I want to do these days with all the biz school reading. I get pretty fired up for Vandy sports and the NY Mets, but I spend a lot more time being an athlete than I do watching them.
Athletically…
Played football in high school. I was an offensive guard, which means you’ll be safe with me. A few years ago I became obsessed with triathlons. A back injury put me in the ER though and ultimately forced me to take a couple years off to heal. So now I just do the swim and the bike—no mo’ runnin. Doing these “Half-Iron Aquabikes” (1.2 mile swim 56 mile bike) now. Just finished a race in Portland and I’ll do two more later this summer in Tahoe and LA. Crossing the finish line is perfect elation—beyond any pleasure I have ever known. (A two-encore Pearl Jam show is a potential exception).

Meet a soulmate from United States. I've lived abroad for a few years and bounced around between a few states, but consider California home. I relocated from Santa Barbara to the bay area for work and have loved every minute of it. Life wasn't meant to be experienced from behind a desk, so when the day is over dabbling in the many things the area has to offer is a must! Keeping active (Crossfit, Brazilian Jiujitsu, hiking, kayaking), spending time with family and friends, and checking out the most random things that land in my inbox from Groupon are some of the ways I pass my free time. Traveling is also another one of my passions. I've been fortunate to be able to go abroad for 2-3 weeks every year for the past 6 years. I almost feel left out since I don't have the obligatory Machu Picchu photo on my profile, but it's definitely on my to do list.
I enjoy the occasional road trip to Santa Cruz or Monterey, but San Francisco has quickly become my favorite city . The musicals, restaurants, farmers markets, shows, and of course nightlife have me spending a lot of free time exploring that area. While I enjoy all of these things, I would like to meet someone who also values quality down time. Some of the best conversation can be shared over a cup of coffee or a bike ride.

. Raised in LA for most of my life. Not sure if that will categorize me in some form or another. I do try to seek balance in life and also be a better person than I was yesterday. I do this by either reading personal growth books, gaining new perspective through my travels and/or new experiences.
