Date someone special from Long Beach, United States. I am active, fit, intensely curious, intelligent, knowledgeable, well-educated, witty, fun-loving. While money is important to me because it affords security, I do not define success by it. I have never aspired to retire - that seems terribly boring to me. (However, it is nice to have the freedom to travel.) I have so many ideas that I want to develop that I will need to live a very long time! If you are uncomfortable with a strong, intelligent, capable woman, I am not for you. On the other hand I am a very loving, caring and nurturing person. Also, the physical aspect of a relationship is extremely important to me; it would need to be to you also. I have been an elementary and high school teacher, interior designer, caterer, property manager, business owner (packaging and gift wrap; mortgage brokerage, marketing consultant to gift and gourmet industry) and marketing vice president for a real estate syndicator. I am most interested in a long term committed relationship, but getting there takes some time, right? As it has been said, "You have to kiss a lot of frogs." Been there, done that ... I'm looking for a prince...or at least a duke or an earl! No more frogs!
I enjoy most types of music - I am a singer. Also gourmet cooking, antiquing, interior design, fitness (walking, biking, hiking, weight lifting), theater. I love to just jump in the car and go - To explore neighborhoods nearby or far. Travel is of great interest to me. My taste in movies most often runs to independent and foreign films. I am not into violence and gore - You go to that with the guys, and I'll go to the newest romantic comedy with the girls! I love food and like to try new restaurants. Love venues like the Hollywood Bowl. I also love to entertain at home. My children and grandchildren are important to me (two daughters and sons-in-law, three grandsons - 5 years, 3.25 years and 3 years - and one 11 yr old granddaughter). I have one standard poodle and one cat. Each was a rescue. Politically, my views run the gamut from moderate to liberal to progressive. If you are extremely conservative or tea party, I doubt we would connect accross that chasm!
I trust this makes sense to you. I would hope you possess: Intelligence, a sense of humor, a quick wit, intense curiosity, an open mind, a sense of adventure, a "glass half-full" outlook, and be comfortable in your own skin. You DO NOT take yourself too seriously, are loyal, out-going, loving (You should be comfortable and like children....especially my grandchildren...), and be comfortable in social settings (I love to entertain.). Please no "couch potatoes." I love the outdoors - walking, hiking, biking, simply exploring new places in the neighborhood or beyond. While I know that any of us could become incapacitated at any moment, I would hope that you are in good physical condition, healthy and active.
Three years ago I was asked to participate in the Ms Senior California competition. At first, I was not interested, because I thought it rather frivolous and vacuous. But after thinking about it, I changed my mind for two reasons: The performance group comprised of prior contestants provided me the opportunity to sing and perform frequently, and I saw the opportunity it provided as a platform from which to champion seniors. [The fact that there was no swimsuit competition also contributed to my decision to participate...... Whew, thank heavens!] So after placing 2nd runnerup for two years, I finally won the title in August, 2011. I have been afforded many opportunities and have met many wonderful women who are talented in many ways, vibrant, bright and capable, regardless of age. And what friendships have formed!
I never thought I would be divorced, and certainly not for as long, but time has a way of escaping and suddenly one realizes that over half one's life has passed. There is much I miss - the shared intimacies, the remembrance of something that makes you both laugh, so much more.
