Date a soulmate from California, United States. I am very artistic and well-educated in the arts and humanities. I am hopeful that I will attract a man who is secure with himself, generous, flexible with a great attitude. I worked as a journalist and activist for too many years, but I love making a difference. I still keep myself busy and am working on a documentary about injustice and human rights abuses. I confess that I don't make a very good maid or a nurse since for many years I lived a good lifestyle and we could hire all the domestic work in, but I am a great cook if someone else will clean up. I like pets, but big dogs, horses and several cats in the house are just too hairy for my high housekeeping standards. I am on the go and pets deserve more attention that I can provide. I have friends that allow cats on the sink, counters, in the bed, and I just can't handle all the mess that they make, or time that they consume.
My friends tell me that my sense of humor and ability to see the big picture, particularly in politics, are two of my greatest attributes. I am a thinker and a do-er of creative projects and would make a poor farm hand. I am not that person who likes to go on camping trips, or live in an RV - sorry. I like a soft bed, shower and creature comforts.
It would be fun to build trust and respect within the framework of a special friendship and see where it goes. Out of state relationships aren't real enough for me so I'd rather pass on those opportunities. A word of caution, after decades of being a media gal, I have no tolerance for Conservatives, so if you think prisons and war benefit our society, please just pass me by. In 2006, I began a six year program and updated my education. Creating political cartoons and drawing in charcoal and pastels is stimulating to me. Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Painter are great fun for me too. My camera can take television quality video but it is complicated to operate and I'm still working to master it. My background is in the humanities - fine art, journalism, and anthropology. I donated a great deal of time to being a writer and an advocate, so I am not that person who is going to be able to supplement your income.
About 20 years ago, I was a married to an attorney and ended up on the short side of the financial settlement, which was hard on me, and I've just never had the time or inclination to really get back into the dating scene. He was a Conservative and I am a liberal Green, and that resulted in war. However, it was never my intention to be single for the rest of my life. I like to have fun, give and receive positive re-enforcement and have inspiration in my work as well as have a dieting buddy. If you have pounds to lose too, that is great but I love health food and am doing better now that I am juicing fresh foods. I never smoked cigarettes, drank more than about two drinks a month, or abused drugs. So many men my age are more in love with their addictions than anything in the world. Addiction doesn't fly with me, because a person who is anesthetized does not make a great companion and deadly habits will shorten our time together. This is why we date, to learn about the possibilities and to discover what works and doesn't work. I am a sucker for knightly deeds and have hopes of finding a LTR with someone who mostly says "yes." If you absolutely must spend hours watching sports on TV, that's when I go shopping because there is nothing more boring than that activity to me. However, I always have plenty to do and need quiet time to work on my manuscripts, art, whatever class I might be taking and don't need constant hand holding. There will be abundant negotiations, which will hopefully be a win-win. If you are confident, your ego won't get in the way and that will be great. Let's start slow. My two children are long grown and gone, and grandchildren are young adults who are busy with their own lives. For the right man, I will make time and can be very warm and appreciative.
