As an English teacher, I love words and the depth and textures they are capable of expressing but I sometimes think people don't believe my descriptions are real because my writing is "too perfect." Once in college, I got a paper back from a professor with a zero and a note that she suspected plagiarism. I think she figured if I had really cheated, I wouldn't come up to her about it. I did, and she said she figured I was an English major as she revised the grade. Creative writing was my degree emphasis and I do always write (and proofread) each of my emails individually, just as I only buy the kind of greeting cards that are blank so I can express my own ideas.
I'm a romantic in the original, full sense of the word (not the modern, shallow trashy version)-- in touch with my entire emotional side. I'm sensitive and respectful to others and something of an idealist, and in a relationship I want to be crazy about you as much now as twenty years from now. I know this is not hard to do because I watched my parents do it from when I was a kid to the day my father passed away at age 87.
My professional life, both civilian and military, has always been about duty and commitment. I think those traits are a direct reflection of my core values because my personal life centers on my integrity as a person too. I read a lot of news and listen to NPR because I am interested in the world I live in and care about how I will leave it behind for others. I am proud to bring a spotlessly clean (I've never once done drugs or even tried smoking), if a little dorky, background to a relationship and although I don't expect either of us to be perfect, I hope that this is something you will value. I have a lot to offer, and can't wait to give all of myself to a deep relationship because this is the only way I know how to be. I do think that there's a certain stereotype that people have about those of us in the military. Unfortunately, there's such a range of personalities that like anywhere else, stereotypes only go so far. I can say that my service has made me into a far more patient, confident, humane, and open-minded person than I'd have ever been without it and I sometimes wonder what kind of teacher I'd have been if my life had taken a different path.
I'm looking for that spark--to fall in love and never look back. It's been a long search, but I haven't given up on love. I've worked really hard to get to where I am in life and am looking forward to finding "the one" that's less concerned with what things we do, than the fact that we cherish doing them together. If you have kids already, I would love for that to be part of our togetherness. As a teacher, I've learned that nothing keeps us young better than being around kids all the time. In short, I want to share everything that makes love so amazing.
