I'm a recovering work-a-holic who has been on a pretty successful journey toward a more healthy, active, and balanced lifestyle. I learned to snowboard a couple of years ago and it has definitely become my favorite outdoor pastime and stress reliever. I love being in the mountains, whether in the jeep or on foot. I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, 4x4. I also enjoy playing tennis, volleyball, and other sports/games. Indoors, I enjoy good films and documentaries, reading humor, and catching up on required reading that I somehow missed along the way. I also enjoy writing personal anecdotes, and I'm only now recognizing that I have always had a deep-down need to be creative, in my work and in other areas of my life.
I am easily impressed and I absolutely love to be inspired by nature, art, music, innovation, cultures... anything that's new to me. I'm really an explorer at heart, and my curiosity drives a constant desire to learn. I enjoy experiencing simple activities like First Friday Art Walk and local festivals or more extensive activities like traveling to places that challenge my comfort zone. My favorite travels include Spain, Morocco, Mexico, Chicago, and D.C., and I soaked up as much as I possibly could in each. While I have so much yet to explore, I have delayed some of this, in part, because ultimately I would prefer to create new memories with someone special.
I like to think of myself as a person of exceptional honesty, integrity, and character in general. I certainly am not perfect, but my faith is central to who I am, and must be for anyone with whom I would share my future as a partner. I tend to gravitate toward service. I am an educator who is passionate about my students. I also enjoy volunteering. Currently, I volunteer with refugees, helping them to learn English. I also volunteer with an urban leadership organization as a tutor to struggling college students. Some of the travels listed above were service projects with students from the school where I was working.
Ideally, I would like to meet someone who truly values her faith, a healthy and active lifestyle, enjoys discovering new interests, and can appreciate and balance both spontaneity and responsibility.
