My name is Lauren, and I grew up in New York. Upstate, though, where there are more cornfields and apple orchards than skyscrapers. When people in England asked me what I missed most about home, my knee-jerk response was always, "Apples."
I spent four months studying English Literature in Leeds last year, and stick by the belief that this experience changed me in so many positive ways. I've grown so much as a person since then. I was lucky enough to be able to see the United Kingdom, as well as a bit of Europe, and as a result of that my love for travel will probably never be completely sated. I think I'm probably happiest when I'm out trying new things in unfamiliar places with people who throw themselves into the situation as completely as they can.
That's quite possibly the most important thing about me, actually: when I like something, I tend to love it. I develop fervent devotions to things I enjoy: writing, reading, soccer, films and television shows, recipes, card games, blue jeans. Since social and explorational experimentation of all kinds has recently been added to this list of obsessions, I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be thrilled to try new things.
About a year ago, on what could be described as "a whim," I moved to Berkeley. I absolutely love the Bay Area, and am looking forward to taking advantage of everything it and the rest of California has to offer.
