I have two amazing beautiful daughters in their twenties - one lives in San Francisco, and another is just starting graduate school in Seattle. I love them very much. I am close to my family, although they are mostly in the East Coast.
I have just started a new job in San Francisco, and am looking for a house in the East Bay. Am currently in North Berkeley, 10 minute walk from Chez Panisse, which is perfect! Have been living mostly in New York City for the last two years, which is where I grew up, and consulting all over the US and some in Europe. Work has been an important part of my life for many years - I founded and ran a non-profit that worked on issues of jobs, poverty, economic and community development. I thought I was ready to slow down a bit, but was offered a big job with the federal government that I just couldn't pass up - so have a few more years to make a difference...am determined to balance work and life more this time, though. Am thinking about taking classes, doing volunteer work, getting involved in the community so that work doesn't take over again.
I am really looking forward to exploring the Bay Area. I have traveled all over the world, and there are still many places I want to go. I speak French well enough to navigate through France, and Spanish well enough to order a cold beer. I just came back from three weeks in Croatia, which was totally fantastic...like Italy, but inexpensive! Looking forward to being closer to Big Sur and Esalen, wine country and the ocean.
