Family is a big deal to me because my family has been my absolute rock. Through thick and thin they were the only ones there for me and ready to tackle whatever came our way. As ironic as the world has made it, my mom has been the only best friend this girl could ever have. And after her, I turn to my youngest brother. These are the people I rely on and vice versa. This is one of the reasons I chose a commuter school, to be by their sides as my brothers grew up and as my parents worked on a daily basis. I faced a lot of backlash from peers for never moving out of state or the country and being the dependable daughter, but for me the pros always outweighed the cons, and I have no doubt that they always will.
It's funny that I can spend hours writing about anything and everything else, but when it comes to myself it becomes difficult. I guess I find it conceited? But let's see...
Being single isn't a burden, it can just be lonely sometimes and putting your heart out there doesn't seem to be such a good idea these days. What I look for in a relationship is mutuality, openness and sincerity. Afterwards, the rest builds up with team work. We've all accepted the reality that nothing can be like the movies and novels we encounter in our lives, but in my opinion it never hurts to try and create a fairy tale for the person you care about on a day to day basis. Romance isn't always a monetary effort, but a mental one that demonstrates what and how much the other person means to you.
