I missed walking the docks, looking at the water and hearing the wind brush against the boats. A friend told me recently that my sprit is clearly happier on the water or in it. I have to agree. I have always been athletic starting with tract and field and gymnastics. I learned to swim ten years ago for a triathlon and fell completely in love with it. For me swimming sets my mind and body free. A bird soaring. Now, I swim, run, bike and hike. I am an avid sailor and love racing. The crazier the better! The best day ever: When I was thrown of the deck of a sailboat while racing. The whip of the boat caused me to do a 360 in the air and landed me in the bay. But before I did time seemed to stand still. At a 180 to the life line I realized it should be above my head. I reached out and grabbed it. Landing in the bay, the wind caught the jib and we began to spin backwards.. I heard the Captain yell, “just hold on!“ And it did. After we righted the boat, they pulled me in, I took a deep breath and smiled. Best day ever.

I try to find balance in my lifestyle. One thing I rarely do is lay on the couch and watch TV. I will watch a movie at home but most of the time out with friends-- action, drama, comedies, and yes chick flicks. (Have you seen The Notebook? Would you be Noah?) Have season tickets to the Berkeley Rep and ACT. Knit but not very well--could probably knit you a sweater in two years. I started a book group that has been going for the past five years.
Have taken tai chi for the past three years and am starting to understand it. Enjoy serious weekend hikes, bike rides, attending summer festivals, being kind to animals, or?.
