Date single man from Los Altos, United States. This is work in progress. The road not taken, as it turns out there are not too many in my case, but there a lot still to do. For the right match the sky can be the limit. Excitement and relaxation. Camping and 5 stars. Grateful Dead, Coltrane and Mozart. Etc
Meet people from Los Altos, United States. I am a dyed in the wool capitalist. My license plate frame is Who is John Galt (the opening sentence of the book Atlas Shrugged). I am very lucky in that I love what I do for a living – which is to help high tech startups in their zero-to-something stage of growth. It’s a blast! And I get paid for doing what I love, so that makes it even better.
But my personal life isn’t as satisfying without someone to share it with: doing fun things, traveling, dining out, theater, movies, good books and… if I’m really lucky, someone that also enjoys ballroom dancing (the old fashioned Glenn Miller type of ballroom dancing, not the artificial glitz of Dancing with the Stars). And someone romantic that likes to snuggle.
Being a successful Chief Financial Officer, I have my share of career wins (and some flame outs). If you forgive using financial jargon to explain the concept – it would be great if my life partner viewed my success as an asset, rather than a liability. For us to be a good fit, you’ll be self-confident, curious and enjoy intellectual banter.
IРІР‚в„ўm told that I have a quirky and sarcastic sense of humor. I enjoy reading (magazines like the Economist, Scientific America and Smithsonian, and books: historical fiction, sci-fi, whodunits, and odd books that I pick up at used book stores), generally curled up on the sofa so I can also look out the window at the view. I donРІР‚в„ўt watch much TV (except Mythbusters and old movies on TCM). IРІР‚в„ўm not fond of action movies, especially when the number of dead bodies in the movie exceeds the IQ of the hero. One of my favorite movies is The Princess Bride (and the book was even better/funnier).
When IРІР‚в„ўm not working at a clientРІР‚в„ўs office, I work at my home office, with classical music, jazz, flamenco guitar or other music in the background. One of my two cats likes to sit on my desk helping me by sitting on important papers and purring loudly (which is the cat's way of telling me that it's time to scratch behind her ears).
I like to try new restaurants and have adventurous taste in food. IРІР‚в„ўve never acquired a taste for wine, but enjoy watching my friends savor their favorite vintages. I adore chocolate, especially bittersweet and orange-flavored chocolate.
Most of my friends and family are techies: engineers, programmers, entrepreneurs, etc. So even though my formal education isnРІР‚в„ўt in technology, IРІР‚в„ўm more than a bit of a geek at heart. For example: IРІР‚в„ўd much rather be browsing the ThinkGeek website than VictoriaРІР‚в„ўs Secret (although that's fun too). IРІР‚в„ўm not Marilyn Monroe, but IРІР‚в„ўm not ugly either. I donРІР‚в„ўt see much point in spending a half hour each day putting on makeup, nor in buying designer labels to try to impress people. I like to dress up for social occasions, but prefer jeans on weekends. As Popeye says: I yam what I yam, or in geekspeak: WYSIWYG.
I like to be with people who are also genuine and honest, opinionated and enjoy lively discussions about politics, issues of the day, technology trends, etc. I'm warm and affectionate, and have never outgrown my stuffed animal collection (although they are now in a curio cabinet instead of on the dresser).
I'm equally at home puttering around the house/garage workshop, in a corporate board room, and dressed up for the theater, parties, etc. I especially enjoy restaurants (new ones and old favorites) with someone special -- a quiet table where we can chat in our own world while we unwind from the day and enjoy each others' company.
IРІР‚в„ўm looking for a life partner who is smart, witty, self-confident, warm, quirky sense of humor, well educated, worldly, optimistic, enjoys trying new things and doesnРІР‚в„ўt care about the latest fads/trends, but trusts his own instincts instead.
If this sounds like a good fit, then let's get to know each other.
