Eclectic is a good word for me. I love the big, the small, and everything in between. The best compliment I ever received was "You seem like this normal guy, but you know how the universe works". That's a bit of an exaggeration because I really don't know how the universe works, but I know how parts of it work. I can change a tire or a car engine; I can cook, well; I can frame a wall, fix plumbing, paint, build a cabinet, design a secure satellite communications network, sew on a button, write a poem, and do laundry. I learned to clean bathrooms in my dad's gas-station.
I had kids later in life, as did my parents not surprisingly. Having kids around really does keep all your faculties running at top capacity (if you fall, they will get you). I have a daughter who is ten and a son who's seven. They are bright, happy, mostly well-mannered children who are a delight to be around. They have a mother so I'm not looking for a replacement there, but they are a big part of my life so anyone I get involved with must like kids.
I am in the process of finalizing my divorce and no divorce is pretty. I am divorced, i.e. no longer married, but we haven't finished the property agreement yet. I am greatly looking forward to this new chapter in my life and finding someone who is really "right" for me.
As of late, a lot of my time and finances have been spent on the divorce, but as luck would have it Karma does exist. I just got paid back with the dream job of my lifetime. This is absolutely fascinating stuff, working with some of the smartest people on the planet (no kidding), and a joy to engage every morning. I woke up one morning and realized that a life of bloat and sloth (inspired by work) was gonna kill me and that if this happened my ex would raise my kids without a moral/ethical counterpoint. I turned vegan, though grant myself a variation about once a month; you can eat whatever you want. I'm not against killing animals, I just don't want them killing me by clogging up my arteries. I also like cycling, lifting weights, and swimming. I was certified as a SCUBA diver back in the days when you had to swim a 1000 yards just to get in the class.
Mentally, I am very open and have done a lot of work on figuring out how to be a better man. I've done a lot of psych seminars and classes. This doesn't mean I am screwed up less than anybody else, but I have a pretty good idea of where I'm screwed up and why. Bottom line is that I am not going to think me being screwed up is your fault or anybody else's but my own. Based on my attempts at awakening, I am an optimist and I think the world is a fascinating place to dive into with both feet.

They are the best thing that ever happened to me. Got divorced after 15 years. Went to business school at NYU. At age 40, went back to school to obtain a BSEE. I work in high tech. Was recently GM of a start up I put together for a large company. Have enjoyed life and since I can't, I wouldn't have done it any other way. While I have had regrets, I look at them as growing experiences which have served to make me a better, wiser more mature person.
