Date men and women from California, United States. I'm coming out of a pretty rough spot in my life, making the changes I need to. I'm not looking for anything too serious at present, but a friend to spend time with, hanging out, movies, art, normal stuff would be awesome, I do love some romance as well.
About me: I'm a creative type, but very technical too. I'm not one of those people with HUGE amounts of energy that has to be doing something all of the time; I like to have some down time, too. I'm pretty laid-back, easy going and sensible. I love being outdoors, especially in the mountains, but I love the water as well.
It seems as though everyone I see here is into skiing. Well, I'm sorry to say that I'm not. I've tried it, but I'm just too clumsy or uncoordinated or something that I just end up hurting myself...but yet I LOVE being up in the snow! Not even thinking about boarding! I love being on the water, but I can't swim. Again, the coordination thing; it just doesn't work for me. That being said, I am a certified scuba diver (don't ask).
My sense of humor is a bit different than most I think, but I can be VERY sarcastic and I do love to laugh. I really like to laugh with others who love to laugh. I have three college degrees, one in art, one in aeronautical science and an MBA. I work in aerospace as a Training Specialist/Manager.
I love coffee shops, art galleries, antique shops and strolling around town, and of course the beach.
I love movies and popcorn, picnics just about anywhere and spur of the moment weekend getaways! But I've NEVER been to Vegas...

You are healthy and fit (please note - I believe that, with the exception of injury/illness, a person's health/fitness level is a reflection of how s/he values her/himself), enjoys/seeks being in love (er, with ME), you like travel, and you're content doing things "out" or just staying home indulging each other. My "Drink: Never" answer seems to be off-putting to some. No, I am not a recovering alcoholic, nor is there alcoholism in my family. I drank quite enthusiastically from age 17-22. ;-) Then I was done. I just don't like the stuff. Will I go to a wine tasting with you? Sure! The process, the history, the culture are interesting to me. Do I mind if you drink? No, if you don't drink to excess (often) - and just think, you'll always have a designated driver. My focus on health excludes all toxins, of which alcohol is one. And as for the "health-benefit" of drinking wine, that's just the wine industry trying to separate you from your money. Purple grapes - which I eat daily - are just as good. Hope that helps....

Date someone special from California, United States. Why take life too seriously? After all, none of us makes it out alive! Enjoy the moment! That’s the way I roll! While I am honest, steadfast, and responsible, I try not to take anything – or even myself – too seriously. I don’t require that sort of stress in my life. No drama. No intensity. I prefer to roll with the steady flow of things as opposed to paddling like mad against them. I would definitely pair well with a like-minded woman.
Far from a high-roller, I prefer life’s simpler pleasures, from dinners out, to firing up the backyard grill, to a round of golf…it’s all good...even better when shared. I retired a few years ago and live a fairly “vagabond” life style in that I spend about an equal amount of time between my homes in a beautiful part of the Central California Coast (4 houses from the beach) and Costa Rica (100 yards to the beach). That makes it a bit tough to find a Woman that can, or that would be willing to join me. Although it’s a very blessed life, for the right Woman, I’d give it all up to join her in her life.
What I want in a Mate is for her to be “real” – in my book, that means that she has and continues to learn from her life lessons; she is comfortable in her own skin; she believes in God (whatever version she chooses); if she's feeling a bit anxious or unsure, she’ll know that I’ll still be by her side; she is kind to people; she knows how to laugh and have fun; if she has kids, she adores them, but understands that if you put them on a pedestal too much, that can mess them up; “Chemistry” would really be cool; that her idea of “Travel” is not going to Vegas for the weekend; and she’s open to cultural experiences.
I understand that many Women desire the security, wisdom, emotional stability, skill sets, financial stability, and life experiences of an older guy with the body and hairline of a 22 year old. Uhhhhh, it probably doesn’t exist, but it doesn’t hurt to ask (and dream). If you’re looking at only the superficial (“are we a stud”) with those of us who have some years on them, you might be missing out on that whole wish list (“Order-A-Man”) thing that many of you dream and write about.
