Meet single man from California, United States. I never thought I'd be here posting a profile about my likes and dislikes or examining where I went wrong. I thought I'd meet that special someone and somehow everything would just fall in place and we'd grow old together, still in love and happy. Well...it didn't work out that way but I still believe its possible.
I have been divorced for a long time after a marriage that began in my early 20's and lasted to my early 40's. The fairy tale ended but I have been lucky since that time. I since have been in two good relationships that lasted 8 and 7 years and had moments of extreme happiness with two wonderful woman that probably deserved better than a man that wasn't "all in". I am not sure why, but for whatever reason I just knew that they were not the right ones for me.
After the last relationship ended my daughter sat me down and said, "Dad it's time you looked somewhere else for a person to share your life with." Since my divorce I have met the women in my life at local bars usually on the dance floor. They were wonderful but maybe just not right for me. This time, she suggested trying a dating site that put people together with similar backgrounds and interests. She went online, signed me up, took pictures and posted them for me. I guess she just wants to see her dad happy, and I want that too.
I want it all. A bestfriend I can talk to about anything. Someone who doesn't need me to be happy but wants me there to share in her happiness. Someone who loves to kiss and hold hands whenever we're in a room together. A lover who goes to sleep next to me holding my hand and somehow feels just a little less herself when I'm not with her.
Recently I was talking to a friend about a personal credo that I first heard in an old baseball movie called " Bull Durham" . In the movie the main character talks to a woman he meets about the things he believes in. His speech stuck with me through the years because it invokes a earthiness that somehow we've lost as we go about our daily lives and forget what's truly important.
