I'm in the process of finishing up a degree in computational linguistics. I've been getting more involved in the veterans student org on campus in the last year and half. Did I mention once upon a time I was in the Marine Corps. I'm also doing a work study that relates to vets on campus. Most recently I've also been helping out with a local foundation that gives scholarships to local students. We're giving out over 20k at an event at the end of the month; It's good to see hard work rewarded! All of those take up a fair amount of time but I still manage to find time to do other things from time to time.
I'd like to meet someone with whom I can have fun with. I get along with just about anyone, I just haven't found that special person yet. I've been on the fence lately with the whole relationship idea. I think I'm more interested in meeting new people and seeing where it goes.

I had a short stint in Italy and moved out here about five and a half years ago. I was in the East Bay for a few years and moved down to the South Bay just a couple of months ago. Meet a soulmate from San Jose, United States. Hi there. My name is Joe. I like to think I'm a relaxed, down-to-earth, and open-minded guy. Usually I'm pretty friendly and goofy, but I do tend to be quite reserved and shy when meeting someone for the first time. When it comes to people in general, I think I'm very considerate and respectful of people's beliefs and opinions. Mainly I just try to be a good person and treat people they way I would want to be treated. I'm also a fairly good listener and easy to talk to. That being said, I'm usually the guy that people come to to vent or talk things over with. It takes a lot for a person to get on my nerves, but it can be done...especially if someone is rude to another or just plain mean.
One thing is absolute: Family is very important to me. Whether yours or mine, I believe family should be respected and honored (of course, there are...exceptions). I, myself, am very close to my family so it is very important to me that you get along with them as well. I'm not asking you to be buddy-buddy or be best friends, but respect and honesty are key.
Oh, another thing....I'm a GEEK! I'm a Techno-dweeby-dohickey-thingamabob-lover....and damn proud of it too!! I get mesmerized by lots of blinky-pretty-lights. If it makes cool noises and entertains me, I geek out....seriously, I might shed a tear. =P Computers are my life. I work and play on them all the time. I am a kid at heart, but I can put away my toys and be big boy when I need to. hehe
My one drawback is that I'm a physically big guy, but I've always been big. It's something I've struggled with and still dealing with, but it is who I am. With me, what you see is what you get. I'm very much like an open book, wear my heart on my sleeve and don't play any mind-games. I have a great sense of humor, a very high sense of honor and pride in my family and beliefs, am very loyal and good-hearted personality. I've also been known to throw out a witty comment or two.

Overall, I consider myself to be pretty fortunate. I have a great job that I love, I am financially stable enough to enjoy some perks every now and then, I have an awesome family, and I've been able to travel quite a bit and see a bit of the world. I don't have any regrets in my life. To wish that I could change something or do something over again would change the very essence of who I am....and for better or for worse, good and bad....we are the sum of our experiences.
OK....well, enough about me...

I fidget, sometimes I cant sit still for more than 5 minutes, I grab my crotch no matter who's watching or where I may be, (I.E. Job interviews, church, etc, al,) I spit, I talk during movies, I play my guitar when im on the phone with people, and I interrupt people when they are talking. I also get side tracked easily and have a tendency to forget important events like feeding my pets, picking up relatives from the airport, going to the dentist, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and taking my antibiotics as prescribed. In addition to being sidetracked, I also suffer from Mysophobia, or "The Fear of being contaminated with Dirt and Germs". You would have to shoot me before I would touch a public restroom door handle. If the restroom im in has no paper towels and only one of those stupid blow dryer things, I will dry my hands with it and then wait patiently by door, buying my time until someone comes in, and THEN like a rare and endangered Cuvier Gazelle being chased by a pack of famished Lions on the African plains of the Serengeti, I will dash out, completely avoiding the door handle, which is no doubt in my mind host to Anthrax, mad cow disease, bird flu, and Sars

I think my best trait is my optimistic personality. Life is a gift, and I wake up every day happy, ready to face the world! Life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% How I choose to feel about it! And I choose to be happy :) I think I have a great sense of humor, and Ive been accused of being pretty smart ;) One of my hobbies is performing stand up comedy, which I have been doing for just over 5 years now. I'm not famous or anything, but I have been fortunate enough to work with very talented comics that I look up to, and lately Ive been getting paid to perform! I also can get FREE tickets to comedy shows!!! Who's your favorite comic? Mine is Daniel Tosh, followed closely by Dave Chapelle! Maybe you could come to a comedy show with me? I would LOVE to try theater acting as well!

Im aware that I have some pictures that might give you the impression that Im a Jersey Shore-ish meathead. The truth is, I had no shirtless pictures and wasnt getting any responses.... so I figured Id switch it up and try something different, right? I sincerely hope that it doesnt give you the wrong impression of me, I am not cocky/slutty/douchey, however, fitness is a big part of my life and I just wanted to convey that I take care of myself.
