Date single man from Los Alamitos, United States. I'm rather unconventional. Have done a lot of things; taught college, had my own business, was captain of a Coast Guard cutter, a pilot, and a cop. I take classes continually and have a lot of interests.
Love real people, interesting characters, cycling, hunting ,fishing, building things, and cooking. Also love jazz, bluegrass, ethnic festivals, dogs, and learning to do things the right way. Have no interest in professional sports---(OK, maybe some football).
I'm spontaneous, adventurous, imaginative, and artistic, so I'm very visual. In fact, I'm a graphic designer and commercial photographer, although I'm doing something else at present. In friends, I want quality rather than quantity; with emphasis on sincerity, truthfulness, loyalty and getting an honest answer to an honest question. Am not a neat freak.
Thoroughly enjoy George Carlin, WC Fields, Prairie Home Companion, Jonathon Winters, Bill Cosby, Eddie Izzard, and Monty Python. Loved Tuscany and being out in weather with fabulous skies and clouds. Generally prefer the desert and seashore to the mountains. Am absolutely not a couch potato but am fond of some indoor activities.
Politically conservative--even very conservative. Reagan was my guy. Am a Charismatic Christian and listen to Joyce Myers, Joel Osteen, and others where the Word is good and eminently practical. II Corinthians 6:14 is bottom line for me.
You still there? Terrific! Sorry this is a little eclectic, but it gets better, and if not, at least it gets shorter.
Love to read, especially spy novels that are historically accurate and most anything that is well written. I write some myself and I'd like to do more. Scratch poetry. I particularly enjoy watching a master of just about any subject or endeavor.
Appreciate confident women, but eschew controllers. Cannot stand poor spelling or grammar, people who say "like"and "awesome" far too often and misuse "goes" and "went" for "says" and "said". It drives me nuts when someone extends their thumb and little finger to show me what they said on the phone. This adds something to the conversation?
Dislike Liberalism, political correctness,"it's just our policy" and other similarly mindless philosophies. Ditto people with hidden agendas, manipulators, and virtually all TV except History, Discovery, Food, and A and E Channels. I can't even begin to understand why someone would like NASCAR. Don't like the ballet...I have trouble with the subtitles. On the other hand, I have all the Marcel Marceau albums.
Looking good is greatly appreciated, but please, no hair and nails parlor queens, women who can't fix anything themselves, and those who make a big deal out of the toilet seat being up or down--if I can pick it up, she can put it down.
All that being said, (it's a lot, I know), in fairness I'm willing to put some of these things out on the table. On the other hand I'm really quite a funny guy, (I've designed a whole line of greeting cards). I'm affectionate, considerate, likable and honest. Like awesome, right?
