Date a man from California, United States. I was a Silicon Valley exec who decided enough was enough and retired. Business travel took me to many exotic places mostly in the Far and Mid East. Now in retirement, I’ve enjoyed traveling to all the places that time would not permit: China, Australia, New Zealand, most of the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. Cuba is on my itinerary when it opens up. I spend about 3 months a year at my condo in Roatan, an island off the coast of Honduras, where the diving and snorkeling are fantastic, the winds sail you from island to island, lobster and shrimp are abundant and the palapa bars are stocked with ice cold beer. I am an extrovert at heart and enjoy meeting and making friends with people from all over the world. I have made some amazing new friends and we seem to all connect with the same desires and dreams in life.
At my home on the Pacific coast, I enjoy entertaining family and friends. I wouldn't consider myself a gourmet cook and gladly pass the baton in the kitchen. My friends say I'm a congenial guy as long as you’re not late for dinner! I enjoy spending my time going to concerts in the park, dining out, going to the cinema, motorcycling down the coast, stopping at a garage sale, engaging in good conversation and quiet evenings at home in front of the fireplace. San Francisco is a treasure and all the activities it has to offer and just 25 minutes away.
I also spent valued time volunteering in a combined program between the SFPD and school district identifying high risk gang leader kids and taking them to San Quentin for workshops with first degree murderers, no parole: to rescue one is exceptionally rewarding. I like all music but am partial to Soul and Doo-Wop - hard to take the Jersey out of a Jersey Boy! I don’t play golf which is shocking to most but hitting a tiny ball with a stick and chasing it around all day never appealed to me! I did play serious college basketball back in my hay day. I don't spend my weekends watching sporting events on TV, except of course the NCAA basketball playoffs! My cat, Ruffy, considers me his best friend and he runs the house but he won't pay rent!
I was a single parent from the time my daughter was 4 and raising her was the greatest accomplishment in my life. She turned out to be a beautiful, intelligent and accomplished woman. I used to wonder along the way which one of us was the parent! I delight in spending quality time with her, her husband and my two young grandsons. I can't wait till my grandsons get older and I can take them to Roatan for spring breaks by myself. My daughter’s response when I mentioned it to her: “What a horrible thought!!!” Perhaps she knows me too well.
Life has its ups and downs, but on the whole, life has been good to me – academics, career, family, friends and most importantly health. I’m missing one thing, however, someone to enjoy it with!
