Date single man from Fresno, United States. I moved to the Fresno area 4 years ago from southern California for a job change. Have been busy working and pursuing another degree so I have not been an active participant in the dating scene. Its time to come out of my comfort zone. I am a very basic person, not into bling or fancy cars.
I am very easy going with a dry sense of humor and have a variety of interests (flying, photography, skiing, cycling, scuba, sailing). Although I am comfortable being alone I would like to meet someone special who is interested in me as a companion. I have lots of friends that I enjoy being around. Both of my kids are in college now which frees up some time.
I trained as an engineer then switched to medicine several years later. Have been an emergency physician in CA for the past 30 years.
Some of my more interesting experiences have included being in the ER during the Northridge Earthquake and then taking a medical team to Kobe Japan after their earthquake exactly I year later. Was in a helicopter crash in the Malibu hills in '88, escaping with a sore back and bruised ribs. Three years later I pulled Kirk Douglas and his pilot out of a downed chopper. One of my most gratifying accomplishments was starting a center several years ago for doing forensic exams on woman and children who have been sexually assaulted.
I like to challenge myself. I ran a marathon about 10 years ago and started training recently to do it again. I am finishing a masters in forensic medicine this year and then I would like to build another airplane. The first one was 20 years ago. Flying has always been a passion. Helicopters and floatplanes are my favorite. Flying with Commander Chuck (KIIS radio) in his Jetranger doing traffic reporting was always a nice break from work. Most recently I have tried paragliding off the cliffs of La Jolla.

My favorite topics are found in God's Word, history and the political events that shape our lives. I have been on a couple of talk shows, and one of my remaining ambitions is to have my own talk show and to get published. I write insightful political essays from a Christian Worldview. I am NOT real big on going to movies. It seems every profile I have seen, everyone wants to go to the movies. I find most movies boring, and if I like a movie I would rather enjoy it in my home theater. I am interested in people that are interested in the meaningful things in life...and the Lakers :). Yes, I am a Laker Fanatic!!! We WILL be regularly attending Laker games. I am in a very interesting business, therefore I love my work. I am no longer a workaholic, and because of the kind of business I am in, I have plenty of quality time. I like spending time with someone who shares my passions and values. I also like spending time with myself. Thus, I am only interested in someone who has their own passions and interests to pursue. This makes for a healthy relationship. My ideal companion has to be articulate, personable and well educated. I don't necessarily mean formal education, because I have met fools with very impressive degrees. I have BIG plans for changing and benefiting our society and mankind in general. Aside from my interests in cooking, travel, history, politics, sports (especially NBA basketball) and fitness, I am also in science...especially astrophysics. I love family and friends, and people find me funny, engaging, interesting, ambitious, aggressive, loving, compassionate and very down to earth. I am NOT a people worshiper, but I am a people person. Since my faith is very important to me, I would rather have someone to share it with than to debate its merits. I am NOT weird, or extreme in any way. I am not a blab it and grab it person. If you are familiar with Assemblies of God then you will have an idea of the kind of church homes I have sought and find particularly fulfilling. I am open minded, but if you plan to sway my opinions then you will have to be well armed with reason and logic...not simply vitriol and sophistry.

I feel younger than my years, and most people guess my age much lower than my 63.
I am a progressive Liberal, enjoy good health, have zero interest in sports (Yes, there are men like this), enjoy maintaining my home and yard and working on my vintage sports car. I enjoy reading, evening TV, dining out, flea markets, yard sales, Disneyland, and weekend drives.
I attended Fresno State for several years, amassing an eclectic array of about 80 units from Chem 1A to Child development - but alas, no degree.
I spent 25 years as a Union electrician which kept me in good shape. And if you automatically think "Billy-Bob six-pack" for a man in the trades, that is FAR from who I am. I spent two and one half years in the Union Hall as a Business Agent, so I can not only handle the tools of the trade, but am right at home with a keyboard and a FAX machine. I've stayed active enough since retiring that I have actually lost weight and consider myself fit without having to actively exercise.
I am well-read and educated; I can hold my own in conversation with almost anybody. I learned my manners as a boy and have not lost them, so I still open doors and pull out chairs when I'm with a lady. I'm political with out being fanatical about it and respect others views, or at least TRY to. I believe in love notes under her pillow when you leave your lover for business trips, flowers for no particular reason, and generally think of myself as being a romantic.
I believe in tipping about 20% for good service, and even give the pizza boy a tip when the pizza arrives cold. I'm not a great cook, but am not scared to venture into the kitchen. My barbecue skills are still novice, but I am exploring them this summer.
I'm very organized and usually neat, but being a guy, my clean may not be quite up to par. Most men remark how neat my garage is - most women may just wonder why anyone would need all this stuff. :-)

I've been separated from my wife of 30 years for ten months - her idea - and the divorce is getting under way. Baggage? Sure, a little, but more like a small carry-on than a steamer trunk. ;-) With the finish no longer in doubt, I've decided it is time to move on and this is one part of that effort.
