Date a soulmate from Dixon, United States. Regular sort of guy with varied interests, from fly fishing to hiking to wood working and wool gathering. I enjoy reading and discussing books, movies, theatre. I'd like to be part of a family again, but I've been burned recently so I'm unwilling to jump right in. I reckon I'll have to be swept off my feet. I'm caring, attentive and loyal--for the right woman. One who is open, honest and can communicate well. Someone normal and intelligent, who doesn't shirk from a challenge. My partner should be someone relaxed in her own skin, and who will give as good as she gets. Open mindedness is a plus. She should enjoy reading, movies, theatre, the outdoors, and be able to carry on an intellectual discussion. Not asking much, am I? I'm not willing to settle, are you? By the way, the photos are fairly recent. WYSIWYG. I'm not proud of it, but I'm built for comfort, not for speed. Working on it, though.
I've been away from Match.com for several years, now. I'd sort of given up on the whole thing. However, the desire, the need to connect with someone seems very strong in me, and so here I am again. I am generally a pretty happy guy, at peace with my situation, but, honestly, my expectations for finding a match are not high. But don't let that stuff put you off. I was born with a big sense of humor, and have had to work on my sense of serious. Laughter IS the best medicine.
Meet single man from Dixon, United States. Looking for a partner. I love to hear music, especially folk and Celtic. I grew up in a close family and am family-oriented. I love children and would like to have children more in my life, so a mother or grandmother would definitely work.
I am honest, open, funny, caring, and playful.
One of my biggest joys in life is getting a child to smile. When I lived in the Bay Area, I volunteered at Children’s Hospital Oakland. I enjoyed just being there with the kids – being there for the children in a sort of Zen-like way, not caring why they were there nor letting the sadness of them being there overwhelm being there for them.
I enjoy reading "The Economist". I pretty much read it cover-to-cover every week. I like the world view. My politics are a little more liberal than theirs but I like that they are willing to look at things pragmatically. I also enjoy their wit.
While not particularly active right now, I have been politically active in the past, mainly related to Central America, where I have traveled a little. Currently, my involvement is through donations, e.g to Doctors without Borders and Habitat for Humanity.
I attend a Quaker meeting, just a little different from the Unitarians.
I've traveled a little - Brazil, Central America, Ireland, Scotland, Portugal. I would like to explore other countries.
I also enjoy movies. Some of my favorites are old and some recent. Among films I like are King of Hearts, Frida, My Dinner with Andre, Moulin Rouge, the Harry Potter movies, the Shrek movies, the Toy Story movies, Life is Beautiful, and the recent Alice in Wonderland. I also enjoy movies that help me see things differently such as Inception and The Matrix. I do enjoy going to movies or watching at home. Having someone to cuddle with while watching a movie would be great.
