I have never liked the "tell us about yourself" question when being interviewed. Fortunately, it's been a long time since I had to do that, but this feels a lot like that same question. What does she want to know?
So, stream-of-consciousness time... I got started with Match a few years ago and have been an off-and-on member since. In that time, I have gone from someone who was looking for the death-do-us-part deal and wondered if it was possible. Since then I have come to the conclusion that the journey is as important as the destination. And I've always looked for someone who wants to play with me and wants to spend time with me. But more than anything, the notion of a serious relationship is why I am here. That can come in either of two flavors, about which I will be happy to tell you if you want to ask.
I am in many ways traditional, and in some ways not so traditional. I am a masculine man (for movie fans, think Wayne, Mitchum, or Lancaster, not Power, Flynn, or Alda) and women friends at work tease me by saying I should seek a job in radio (I guess they think I have the voice for it). I watched a movie awhile back that said I was an oxymoron: "a smart jock." But I really only watch football, and a limited amount at that--and the World Cup every four years. So, being a self-sufficient guy who lives alone, I have a lot of spare time to spend with "her." If you have some time to spend with "him," maybe we would make a good match... Chemistry matters--and then the rest matters more. I do, however, need someone who has time for me, not someone who wants to wedge in an hour or two a week--I don't just want to be someone's "Saturday night" once a month. I like physical affection and am not afraid to show it, so you would probably need to feel similarly. I am passionate in more than one way, so I suppose you should be looking for that as well. Above all, I want to find someone who wants to play with me... Oh, and that feeling that the end of the work day can't come soon enough...
Some more things probably worth mentioning: I'm really big on loyalty. That should run both ways. I usually spend 5-6 hours a week in the gym (no, *in* the gym, not driving to and from it) because I believe in the "whole man" concept: a fit mind in a fit body. You should probably have an interest in such a man, and it's probably fair to say that you should be willing to match such a commitment in your own way.
But more than anything else, I am emotionally available--and you should be too.
