Date someone special from Sebastopol, United States. I'm a writer and a dancer, brainy, vivacious, petite, fit, and health-conscious. I communicate easily and enjoy being with people who are as candid as I am. I write books (ask me about my latest!) and give talks about senior sexuality, so I'm pretty outspoken!
I'd like to meet a smart, physically and intellectually active, sensitive guy who is engaged in creative aging. I value a man who is candid and expresses his thoughts and emotions easily.
I'm attracted to men who keep themselves fit and physically active. I value health and fitness, so important for vitality and aging well. I teach contemporary line dancing three evenings a week-- the most fun you can have with both feet on the floor. I enjoy partner dancing, too. I worked for years as a fitness professional with a specialty in helping non-exercisers find physical activities they enjoy. I think an ideal first date is an hour of walking and talking together. (Bonus points for enjoying vegetarian food.)
I've journeyed on several career paths. I taught high school English for 22 years and tried to be the kind of teacher who stimulated learning and that young people felt they could confide in and trust. I'm still doing that, but now with a different age group: my own.
I love to read and learn, and I enjoy a good discussion where I come away learning something new. If you enjoy reading, thinking, and discussing ideas and books, we'll have plenty to talk about!
I have deep friends, a profession I love, and a full life on my own. I would like to expand the delights in my life by sharing them.
If my profile attracts or intrigues you, I hope you'll get in touch.
Meet a woman from Sebastopol, United States. I am an accomplished professional woman with a grown daughter who is seeking a companion and friend, with the potential for a more long term and committed relationship. I love to travel and have been to many countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. I am an educator and administrator who also writes books on life in other parts of the globe. I love to learn and explore the world, in all its complexity.
I love to swim and enjoy boating of any kind, from canoeing to sailing on small and large boats (I have circumnavigated the globe twice so far). Friendships sustain me and I have a large circle of people from all over the world who call me friend, and who I visit often.
I love to read and do so alot because I rarely watch TV. However, I adore the latest art and foreign films and often see them on opening night. I also love the symphony and the ocean, for calm, peaceful experiences. My work keeps me busy but I would like to have someone to share my weekends and holidays.
I am generally easy to please and get along with all kinds of people, always finding something of interest in everyone I meet. I have unique and unusual friends who sustain me and with whom I remain connected for many years. Some have been friends since elementary school.
My match would be someone who appreciates friendships, travel, good music, good restaurants and wants to learn new things. He would also be willing to put up with idiosyncracies, which we all have. They can be endearing, if appreciated.
I live a quiet lifestyle and my home is very important to me. It is a lovely place where I enjoy entertaining, although I rarely cook now. I was once a hippy homesteader and have outgrown that lifestyle. My match would like to stay at home sometimes, especially after the busyness of life.
Be in touch and let's see if we like one another.
Date a soulmate from Sebastopol, United States. My friends frequently ask me to join them for music concerts, live plays, walks, movies, trips to the City, and to just share and laugh. They tell me I am playful, spontaneous and caring. I just received a thank you note saying what a great friend I am. That makes me happy.
I become positively childlike when I am with my dear grandchildren. We make up stories and laugh out loud.
I have had some fabulous accomplishments and experiences in life but I am most proud of continuing to learn and grow as a seeker, teacher and counselor.
I would enjoy being with a man who can see humor in our silly everyday acts. One who appreciates most music including jazz, classical,
blues, bluegrass and new age.
I meditate daily and have a deep reverence for
nature and the sacredness of life. My friends and family are precious to me.
I have a happy big heart that wants a special best friend, confidant, co-creator and lover.
Meet someone special from United States. You dont' have to wait until you die to be reincarnated. My incarnations have been: devout Catholic convent-school girl; radical politico (Student Peace Union, SNCC), country hippie (ten years), actor, and now Hindu/Buddhist RN and graphic artist. When the HMO I worked for went bankrupt, I started nursing school at age 60. I have worked in the hospital, 2 years in hospice and most recently in a community clinic. I am currently teaching a stress management course at a local health education facility.
I enjoy weird ethnic music (for instance Hindu rock and roll (Jai Utttal), Hamza Al Din). I used to like to rock out to Creedence Clearwater and that ilk but I haven't done that in a long time. (I wonder why not?) I think that life is a learning experience - sometimes it's fun and sometimes it's not, but if you don't get it this time you'll just have to keep trying, so why wait?
Miscellaneous: I like to laugh, but jokes bore me; fog depresses me but I don't mind rain; I am very bad at small talk. I like good science fiction (Ursula LeGuin, Kim Stanley Robinson). I thought "American Beauty" was one of the top three best and most profound movies I have ever seen. Other favorites: "LA Story" "Shawshank Redemption" "Ides of March." I haven't dated in a long time, but I've thought about it a lot. My standard for a good relationship comes from Confucious: "When two people are at one in their inmost hearts, they shatter even the strength of iron or of bronze; and when two people understand each other in their inmost hearts, their words are sweet and strong like the fragrance of orchids."
He: Knows his own mind and heart; takes responsibility for his actions; loves his mother (but not TOO much); remains friends with his ex-wife. He has close friends who are important to him. He makes me laugh; appreciates me; tells me the truth; listens to me; respects me; brings out the best in me; shares his life and his thoughts with me. He is: healthy, kind, patient, cheerful, thoughtful, committed, independent, grounded, original. His spiritual life is more a matter of action than of theory or rhetoric.
