I enjoy spending my free time with my friends, or relaxing in my back yard, walking around museums or other places of interest, watching an entertaining movie or concert. I have very eclectic taste in music, art, and friends. Oh yes, food, I love food and sharing a meal is always a good use of free time. I have been known to enjoy a good car show, motorcycle race, fishing, or just a nice ride now and then. I work out just enough, and enjoy walking.

For the most part, I am satisfied with my life.. I have great family and friends and have and continue to be successful in my career. I also feel fortunate to have had in life many opportunities, which I am grateful for--and that includes education, travel, and many fun and creative experiences. I Idivorced after a farily long marriage and pretty musch raised my children on my own for a period of time. Now, though, I find myself really wanting a partner to share my life with--and most importantly, enjoy my life and friends with. The notion of having a best friend day to day is very appealing to me now.I am not the type of person who finds it easy to go out to bars or other venues to meet someone . I would not consider myself shy but friends have suggested that initially I tend to stay a bit in the background and not always inititate, So-- I am trying to be active here on match. Although I certainly am capable of taking care of myself and others, I guess I would say in some ways I am a bit old-fashioned. I like men who open doors, take the lead, offer to pay for a cup of coffee,have a lot of confidence in themselves and are funny and passionate--ah the perfect man!! I also appreciate someone who can dress up for the occasion if need be and can go to the country club but also likes his jeans ! A sense of humor is such a plus--especially someone who can playfully tease, That being said, that does not mean I can't also reciprocate ( I would open the door for you if you really wanted me to!) My children are pretty much off on their own (one lives in Germany). I want someone who is his own person: successful in whatever he does, but maybe wanting to slow down a bit and enjoy life at this stage.I would like a "talker"--I am a talker, once you get to know me! I also want someone to be able to lean on a bit--of course, I also can be leaned on, but maybe I was the one leaned on more in my marriage. Part of my living I make from the sale of sourdough and german style breads. I've lived in Santa Barbara on and off since 1972 where I attended UCSB and received a Bachelors degree in Fine Art and taught oil painting. I have a very positive attitude toward life in general and like to have fun. I also walk at least five muiles a day, love to hike in the mountains and own a one and a half year old Dalmatian named Forrest who I sometimes show at dogshows around California. I have a small garden and eat very healthy but since I am a cook, there are times when flavor takes presidence over healthy. I'm passionate about the piano,(jazz), dogwalking, and keeping a fit body. I have a strong personality and a great sense of humor. I'm honest and open about my feelings and believe in living life to the fullest. I'm both extrovert /introvert and flow easily between the two depending on the situation. It's very easy for me to enjoy many types of people and I mix it up quite a bit especially when traveling. I'm equally comfortable sitting on the side of the road in India as at a swank sidewalk cafe in the heart Paris...both places have wonderful things for me to see and experience. It would be accurate to say that I'm fairly smart, delightfully optimistic, genuine and have a warm heart.
I walk 3 miles in the morning after meditation. I practice yoga and hike the local canyons a couple times a week. Since I still enjoy cooking, I really like having friends over for dinner and interesting conversation; it's one of the most delightful ways to spend an evening. I'm an easy traveler. Short trips/long trips/car/ship/jet....US/International...it's all good. Have traveled through Egypt, Kenya, Thailand, India, Tahiti, Fiji, Europe, Ireland, Mexico, and biked Vietnam. I really like road trips and would like to see more National Parks in the future. The arts are enriching to me and I've spent a great deal of time in concert halls and art museums.
I've been blessed with many great friends with whom I share my life but desire to meet a special man who's company and conversation I enjoy. All of my friendships/relationships are from the heart.

For some reason the palm tree is a favorite of mine. I actually love any local travel as well and have traveled to many diffierent states.
