I go to my gym every day as I have for many years. I like the feeling of being physically fit. I really get into group classes at the gym that helps me to push myself to work hard. I like to walk and hike. So much in life may be out of our direct control, but fitness and diet are personal choices. I keep very fit. I go more than 5 times a week.
I enjoy cooking, BBQs and just hanging out. I like all kinds of food but mostly stay to healthy fair with occasional deviations for fun. I like good wine, good beer, or a mixed drink (all in moderation). Meals are a ritual that is made to be shared. More than half the fun is making it together, and then working together to clean up. I don’t drink to be drunk. I don’t smoke or do drugs.
I'm a positive person and usually am smiling, life should be fun. I am not a �thing’ oriented person; life isn’t about how many personal possessions you accumulate. It's about the people you can call your friends and family.
I love to listen to a very wide range of music: rock, blues, bluegrass, reggae, alt country, Broadway, soul, funk, classical, folk, and classical. Talk about eclectic. I listen to what fits the mood. Music is the soundtrack to life. I would rather listen to music than watch TV. I do love movies; musicals, classic movies, comedies, action adventure, SciFy, and good drama. Not into blood and guts. I love the theater; musicals, plays, and almost any live music performances. I enjoy stand-up comedy and political humor, anybody who makes me laugh. Why do so many people say “I can’t believe I’m doing this?” Like their love life is so much better than everyone else’s that they don’t really have to? Why do they say “My friends say I am (insert flattering comments here)?” Of course they say nice things about you, that’s why they’re your friends! Why do people say they’re looking for a “partner in crime?” Are we going to knock off a bank together? Why do they say they “clean up well?” Are they dirty most of the time? Why do people post photos of themselves from 5 years ago? Do you think people aren't going to notice that you're older when you meet in person? Why do they post pictures wearing sunglasses? Like their friends won’t recognize them on the site in their sunglasses? Why do they post photos of their pets? No one is planning to date your cat. Why do they say cliche things like “I like warm fires on a rainy day and long walks on the beach?” Is there anyone who doesn’t like those things? Why does everyone say they’re a “social drinker?” Are there any “anti-social drinkers” out there? Why do people contact people from out of state? Are we really going to commute from L.A. to Baton Rouge for our dates? Women always seem to want a man "who makes them laugh." Does tickling count? These things I wonder.

I enjoy athletics and play sports regularly. Typically basketball, mountain biking, golfing, skiing, surfing and long beach walks. In the past, I've also enjoyed swimming, springboard diving, tennis, Yoga, playing guitar, ultimate and disc golf.
I know my way around the kitchen. In addition to the traditional stuff, I do a lot of canning. Mostly soups, sauces, etc. Weekends at my house can smell quite good. Ask me for a list, and you shall receive. Mostly these items make for easy but complex and delicious meals in a pinch (or when time is abundant). A portion of one refrigerator is typically dedicated to just Ball/Mason/Kerr jars. I know how to kneed dough, make a flaky crust, or re-create something I have experienced at a restaurant. Though I am driven visually (the scientist in me) smell is probably my best sense. Obviously, I like cooking. It can be a wonderful thing to share with someone special. It's one of the many sensual things that can be a prelude to dropping everything....
Speaking of someone special, I want one and only one women there. But I want to spend time regularly with her. If you think finding time once a week to be alone is enough, we probably won't get along there. Example, if you come out in the yard to help out, you're turning me on. Not because it's yard work, but because you are the one person I look at that way.
I am fiscally conservative, but extremely liberal socially. I am a live and let live person. I love Thinking. I love to day dream. Particularly as it pertains to how the world could improve through technological advances (though I believe the government plays a smaller role in the process).
So I've been told I'm a weird match. I am a dude but cleanly. Again, I am fiscally conservative yet extremely liberal socially. I fish and can sew. I am comfortably social, but stay to myself and a tight knit of people. I believe that anyone who thinks they can maintain several deep friendships are fooling themselves (I wanted to say delusional). I revert to logic or the Golden Rule on just about everything. If I had to pick one religion, it would probably be Buddhism.
My degree is in Physics. So if anything, I tend to over think things.
I was divorced 20 years ago when my kids were 5, 4 & 2. I was their custodial parent. My kids are grown and all work as engineers. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. I am obviously dedicated to the ones I love, but now it feels like "me time.".
Last but not least. I am looking for that special life partner (actually have been for over a year). I will not pursue anything that doesn't feel right. I would rather grow old with just my family and friends than cloud my life with the drama of a bad relationship. I am content with myself. Having said that, I realize good relationships come in all shapes of give and take. The hope is that we have enough in common that we aren't threatened by what each other does on their own. So as I describe what I am looking for in a women, please consider them desires (although a few are deal breakers). If you don't have any of those yourself, then you've found a level of self-actualization beyond mine.
