Who I am is what I would like to be - An independent photographer, adventurer, explorer, who occassionally gets contracts from National Geographic or Travel magazine. Unfortunately that is not the case currently. I make my living as an Engineer in Silicon Valley. Given choice I wouldn't work one more day, and be discovering some new place in some exotic corner of the world, and be a perma-vacationer. Howver, I do work, as I have to, and sine I work, I do take pride in what I output. it is not uncommon to have 10-12 hour days, and during "deadline season" even longer. I don't recall in last 15 years, when I didn't have tons of work to look forward to. One benefit of having infinite work is that in the 4 companies that I have been with, I have survived, about 60 RIFs/Layoffs. Although, sometimes I wish I didn't, so I am forced to pursue some new career. This dyhnamic results in a constant battle between me and management to justify time-off, so I can do what I really love to do, travel, outdoors, photography, volunteer work to help someone.
I like pay attention to world events and try to keep an eye on what is going on. I believe I would be able to contribute somewhat meaningfully to a conversation about most subjects.
More often than not, I can find passion for whatever activity interests my partner as well. I have however found that it is best to be with someone who shares your passions or at least is willing to support them and not secretly planning to make you give up everything you love and dream of. I am always supportive of what drives you! I can't afford to be materialistic. Even though my W2s are quiet impressive, unfortunately checking account isn't, mainly due to mortgage bankers and Uncle Sam, who seem to need money more than me.
