I'm not usually that political, but I'm looking for a long term relationship and I need someone who shares my perspective. We don't have to agree on every issue, but we should agree on the big things. I'm not looking for a debate or a confrontation; I'm simply being open about how I feel. I live on a hill in a tropical setting; my house is a Cliff May-designed mid-century modern. If you are familiar with his work you know that means virtually every room opens to the outside with an abundance of glass – “bringing the outside in”. I appreciate architecture and design, both home and garden. If there is a historic home tour or garden tour, you can pretty much count me in. I live in La Mesa near the village and also have roots in Kensington. I particularly like the older neighborhoods in the city’s “core” area. Many of my favorite restaurants and shops are found along Adams Ave and down 30th St through N. Park and S. Park.
I like to garden (some of my pics show my tropical garden), read – I subscribe to about a dozen publications - and have a house full of books. I enjoy selected TV – such as The Office, Mad Men, Friday Night Lights and the HBO shows. I really enjoyed season one of Homeland (SHO) and I'm glad that Breaking Bad started up again. I tend to enjoy “indie” movies more than the blockbusters. I love distinctive little restaurants, not so much the chains. Music is a passion – lots of jazz, blues, rock…I have an extensive collection of music. I like the cooler weather – when it’s raining I like to start a fire and settle in with a good book….or with someone who’s read one. I like to have fun, but don’t have to constantly be on the move. I enjoy a nice evening at home – maybe a BBQ and Jacuzzi or lounging and watching TV or a movie….or listening to music and talking.
I am a man at peace with myself and the world around me. I maintain excellent relationships with the people in my life, including family, friends, colleagues and neighbors. My parents were married for 66 years until my mother passed away in 2009. Regrettably, I recently had to revise this segment as my 94 year old father suddenly passed away in Feb 2012. It's been a difficult time, but my parents lived long lives and left a lasting impression on many people. I've had one marriage - it lasted about 20 years and we are still friends. I am kind, responsible, humorous and calm (but with a strong pulse).
I have a head for trivia – particularly music, sports, politics and some pop culture. My friends used to call me to settle disputes, but recently Google has usurped that role. If you ever get selected for “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, I would be an excellent “phone-a-friend” (don’t worry, you won’t have to split your loot).
I believe everyone needs a partner. We’re all busy, but I’m hoping to find someone that will put the time and energy into having a relationship; that’s what you’ll get from me in return.

I have leased out the condo in case I change my mind, but so far so good. One daughter thinks its awesome other thinks I'm nuts. Truth is somewhere in between.
I tend to immerse myself in whatever I do. I like to scratch deeper than just the surface. I cycle - I want to learn about and am now racing. I sail - I eventually want to learn to do a big trip. I prefer to focus on a few things rather than do many things poorly.
I am the proud father of two grown women. We like to do adventure vacations - mountain biking the Mah Dah Hey and Moab; white water rafting. We hope to do a cycling trip in Europe within the next couple of years.
Work is important but I don't want it to be everything. I work for myself. I have lots of jokes about having a nasty boss. I am having fun and might even start making money soon. Regardless, my plans now are to work indefinitely but not always full time.

I’m healthy and fit, and I like to be outdoors. A life-long athlete, I play tennis (at a fairly high level), golf (at a middling level), volleyball, ping-pong and other “fun” sports. I'm not a “grinder”, and I tend to avoid activities like jogging and gym workouts (too much like work). I do, however, like to laugh till it hurts.
I've spent my career in science and computers, a rewarding and satisfying profession. I could retire comfortably now, but I’m still having fun and think I would miss the challenge. I’m not a workaholic, but believe in a balanced lifestyle, and I have ample time to share with someone special.
