Over the past several years, I've been working on being able to better control my thoughts, words and actions so I can be more at peace, smile easily, and laugh often. I am not traditional in my thinking, and believe that too rigid a structure stifles creativity. I am liberal in my convictions, and think that my outlook is unique.
My vision of a peaceful place involves palm trees, a hammock, shade, a cool breeze, the sound of waves or a brook, the person I love next to me, a good book (typically nonfiction), and a good drink (depending on the season).
My concept of fun would include a golf course, or places that excite the senses - such as - a museum, a farmers' market, a jazz or blues club, a hole-in-the-wall place that serves flavorful food, a sporting event, or just aimlessly walking through a place filled with interesting things. I prefer intimate settings, and feel that two people could share intimate moments even in a crowded jazz club, or, exchange glances at a party that only two people who know can.
My love for my sons and their families is unconditional.
I've also lived in India, France and Canada; and have worked on projects in Africa (Ghana) and China (Shanghai). People have been extremely gracious regardless of where I've lived or traveled. I greatly enjoy talking with people about their interests and passions - and have found that most people are fun to talk with.
I am drawn to and generally identify with eastern philosophies such as Vedanta / Upanishads (India - Hindu), Tao (Chinese), and Zen (Buddhist / Japanese). These primarily focus on working on ones thoughts to achieve peace of mind, live in the present, and not worry so much about outcomes. Things have a tendency to work out for the best. This allows me to be honest, trustworthy, and most importantly myself.
I believe in the quote (and I'm paraphrasing) - Serenity is the ability to change what you can, to accept what you can't, and to know the difference.
The person I'm looking for would smile easily, think I'm funny (very important - ha ha), understand why I think the way I do, and adore me. I promise to do the same in return. I am attracted to a woman who is self-assured, intelligent, has varied interests, is open minded, compassionate, and liberal. I like the nurturing / soft quality in a woman. I also choose to be with people who are positive, fun to be with, who go with the flow, and are not aggressive. I would rather lead and be led gently by the hand than yanked by the neck. The same goes for all other aspects of a relationship.
I don't believe a lot in mores that make you hide your true thoughts. I'm not afraid to let a woman know that she has a pretty smile or a great profile (at Match).
