. 10 months each year I’m a regular person. I wake up to NPR, work 8 intense, but satisfying hours and squeeze as much pleasure as possible into the weekends. But when June hits, I throw the clock away and leap into a guilt-free, open-ended life-style that lasts 10 weeks. How can I be so lucky? I’m a teacher. And just now I am celebrating my 3 favorite things about teaching?—June, July and August. You will find me setting flowers and candles on the table, living off produce from the Farmer’s Market and (soon) my garden, making dinner for friends, taking all-day hikes into the foothills and receiving out-of-state friends, my favorite excuse for adventuring into California. Even house projects are a delight. Today I finally hemmed those new curtains for my daughter’s bedroom. After 2 years at CAL (Go Bears!), I am getting the idea that she really is not coming back here to live. What a thrill to morph her space into something new.
