I don't think a good relationship requires sharing EVERY interest, but sharing some and appreciating each other's "specialties". Hope to share music, reading or cards, for instance, but don't expect you to dig holes or pull weeds in my garden - just appreciate the flowers (Of course, if you WANT to pull weeds, I always accept volunteers for that). My late husband and I shared many things, but still had personal space. I'm happy cuddling up at home and I also clean up nicely for a concert or an evening out, but don't like to go out all the time. The things I noted in "Interests" are just that - they are NOT requirements or necessities.
I can't live without family and friends, a garden, books, music, and intelligent conversation, so I need someone who can participate in at least some of those things. Most important, I'm looking for friendship first, leading to true intimacy: intellectual, emotional, and physical. None of these things happen overnight, but a little chemistry helps!
I don't have any of my own children living at home, but thru June 17, I'm Host Mom for a 17-year-old girl from China. I enjoy being around young people, so this is fun for me. I'm a physically active person; I walk a lot and move dirt and bricks around in my garden, which keeps me in decent shape. I'm comfortable with my age, but I'm told by everyone that I look and act much younger than my age. (some days more than others).
I like a variety of foods and enjoy wine tasting, although I'm not an expert. My interests in art and music are very eclectic. I do some writing for an art website, so have had occasion to research and write about many major artists and their work, while enjoying almost all of it. Whether sculpture, painting, artisan crafts, or other artistic expression such as dancing, I appreciate creativity and artistry in many forms. In music, I enjoy everything except rap.
In the past, I've traveled to France, England, Italy, Mexico, and most of the U.S, including Hawaii. I enjoyed them all and would love to go back someday as well as to see more of the world. I'd be comfortable in an RV, a train through the U.S., on a cruise ship to anywhere, or flying off to China or Australia. Not too thrilled about sleeping on the ground anymore or mountain climbing, although I love hiking in beautiful surroundings.
Although I'm "middle of the road" politically, I dislike Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly intensely.
I've lived in Southern CA since 1968 and probably wouldn't be happy living permanently anywhere else because all the grandchildren are in CA or AZ. Have a bunch of relatives in the midwest.
I believe it's possible to find true love more than once and I'm looking forward to it. If you're looking for a new friend with possibilities for more, for someone who will laugh, talk and play with you, who cares about human rights and the environment, and if you can live in Southern CA, then we're possibly a good match.
